Hughes' transition game is so strong that the emphasis should be on getting more skill along with speed.

 

Quinn gets the puck up ice so fast, I think some of the forwards look a tad slow, so adding some complimentary speed pieces who also have skill will allow a quicker transition.  For too long the style for our team was very slow East to West transitions that our forwards have become accustomed to skating slower and hanging back in the neutral zone.  Hughes' speed and elusiveness is going to force our forwards to be far more proactive in gaining the blueline with speed and being even quicker on the forecheck and backcheck. 

 

JB and management need to focus on getting speed up and down the lineup.

That is exactly what they have been doing

So Travis....when will we be competitive again...give us a time line...

Thankfully he didn't go into the trap set out... 

 

Here's an answer...

if the players takes huge strides and we get a couple of FA players that blows the doors down, we may be competitive in two years...

if not it'll take 4-5 years... If you build a team through the draft, you've got to let the boys develop... and some develop faster than others...You can't hurry the process...simples.

You can’t overstate how impactful playing a mans game with essentially a teenagers body is.
