Being homeless isn't something they've chosen as a career path. Homelessness increased as support and funding for mental health declined over the last couple of decades. Those with mental health issues aren't being housed and supported, left to their own devices and usually turn to drugs to "make them feel better" because nobody is looking for them. Drug dealers recognize this and prey on them. The NDP has been working to reimplement the support structures which the Liberals spent 16 years tearing down, so it's bound to take a lot of time, but at least they say they're working on it. I was in grade/elementary school back then. I watched that version a bunch of times on HBO and TBS growing up. I wasn't a big fan of Harry Hamlin's portrayal of Perseus.
