[Discussion] Alex Tuch/Colin Miller (Vegas)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Vegas signed Tuch to a 4.75m cap hit for 7 years on a new deal. But since then they have traded for and signed Stone to 9.5m while have Marchessault signed long term to 5m as well.

Do they want to pay 4.75m for a 3rd line RW who saw his ice time reduced since Stone trade. They dont have a ton of cap room going forward, so would Tuch be a potential player we look to target in a trade?

Colin Miller has a decent point shot, sub 4m salary and could slot in as a top 4 d for us and help our PP. Would be a nice target for us as well imo!

I kind of like this proposal, but at what cost, does Jim get bent over by McPhee?

Does Tuch have the wheels to playtop 6?

Vegas has 9 picks in the top 5 rounds. I'd be worried about Jim getting played by Goerge. They are already retooling their 2 year old club.

We’re talking about McPhee here. The guy that traded a 1rst and two 2nds for Tomas Tatar. Also the guy years ago that traded 11th overall Filip Forsberg for one playoff run with Martin Erat. The guy gets bent over on most of his trades.

if you say so...

then flipped Tommy T + N.S. to Montreal for Patches.

Did I mentions he has more picks this draft than Jim and they end before Jim's mighty 3 in the 6th.

Keep mocking McPhee if it makes you feel good.

Mchpee like any GM has made poor trades or draft selections like the rest of them.

Do I think we could inquire about Tuch or maybe RHD Colin Miller, yes I do. What would it cost us? It won't be cheap but I wouldn't overpay to acquire either of them

He took so many expansion draft deals and got an incredible amount of draft capital for a couple years by doing so. Vegas has shocked by playing well and it’s made McPhee deal away a lot of this draft capital to bolster his lineup for playoff pushes. Some hits and some misses for sure but I’ll trust in his past record he’s not a very good gm.

um ya, this is the guy who build both teams in last years final

How many GMs can boast that feat?

and where is this traded draft capital of which you speak?

I see after this draft where he has 9 picks in the first 5 rounds, he has 14 picks over the next 2 years, and is + 1 in round position, (extra 2nd in 2020, no 3rd in 2021)

I think Tuch would be an excellent addition. Big top 6 winger. Only 22 and the price is right. Not sure who we'd have to trade. Would you do it for Gaudette + Hutton?

I’m not going to go through all the trades but a lot of teams gave up a lot of picks and prospects trying to protect players they had to leave unprotected.

http://www.nhltradetracker.com/user/trade_list_by_team/Las_Vegas_Knights/1

it was a very sweet deal they were given by a lot of those teams and they’re trading some of these top prospects and picks. Frankly they can afford it because they acquired so much of it during the expansion draft. However if you keep making deals like a 1rst, 2nd and a 3rd for players like Tatar you’ll run out of those picks really quick.

Big body, can skate for someone his size and has a pretty good shot. I’d probably do that one tbh.

Miller I feel like would be a cap dump, tbh. They might let him go for little to nothing. He was a healthy scratch for game one, but has played every game since then. I dunno.

they could send Gaudette down for another year, but

where does Hutton fit in with:

Theodore Schmidt

Miller McNabb

Merril Holden

Engeland

He was smart enough to hire the right head coach.  Meanwhile we get Desjardins for three full seasons.

He’s probably better than their bottom pair, but that’s about it.

I don't understand why Vegas would want to move him. He's young and signed on a great contract. All the more reason they'll want to keep him.

The cap is expected to rise, and they really only have to re-sign Karlsson. They can make it work.

Tuch is a monster. Vegas is not going to move him, they're a lethal threat BECAUSE they have that kind of depth.

Tuch would still be expensive.

I don’t see Vegas giving him up so easily.

Tuch is a good player, but would have to pass.

it would cost too many assets.

All depends what their GM wants to do this upcoming off season. He may want to try clear out some cap space to take a run at E. Karlsson. Yes it would cost asset(s) to get Tuch but we will never get any better if our GM doesnt pull the trigger on a bigger trade, cant do reclamation project for reclamation project over and over and over again....Team still gets stuck with a glut of meh players...We should be trending and turning a corner, time to make some changes to help that. I just dont have much home gm JB is the guy to accomplish that. But most of CDC is pro JB
