In an ever growing field of Democratic contenders for the Democratic Nomination for President of the United States,  former Vice President Joe Biden is jumping into the contest.

(CNN)After months of deliberation, former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday announced his decision to run for president for a third time, answering one of the biggest outstanding questions about the makeup of the 2020 race.

The announcement came in a campaign video released Thursday morning.

In his campaign announcement video, Biden rebuked the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 2017 and President Donald Trump's handling of the aftermath.
"He said there were quote some very fine people on both sides," Biden said. "With those words, the President of the United States assigned a moral equivalence between those spreading hate and those with the courage to stand against it. And in that moment, I knew the threat to this nation was unlike any I had ever seen in my lifetime."

Biden framed the 2020 race as a "battle for the soul of this nation."

"The core values of this nation, our standing in the world, our very democracy, everything that has made America, America, is at stake," Biden said in the video. "That's why today I'm announcing my candidacy for President of the United States."

Creepy Uncle Joe -- can he really keep from groping little girls (at least, on camera) like he promises?

But is he creepy enough for the job of POTUS?

Any golden skeletons in his closet? what is his accuser count at? how about a recording bragging about sexual assault?

I just don't know if he has enough experience for the position.

If they nominate him for the presidency over the more likeable qualified candidates they're idiots.

He'll beat trump though so it's not like it matters

The best part for me will be watching FOX and the right frame him as somehow disrespectful to women and pervy while ignoring ol p***y grabber.

Biden should come out to the debates with Trumps "locker room talk" blaring as his entrance song

There is not a chance in hell he beats Trump..

It really doesn't matter who the Democrats nominate at this point, I think its fairly obvious Trump will get a 2nd term

I don't think that the United States is the type of country that is capable of embracing a progressive agenda that supports the majority of their population.

Partially agree although Yang could give it a shot (but he’ll get rocked by his own party).

Yes, second term for Trump, the states needs more global embarassment.

All the comedians will loose there minds, even more than Trump has lost his mind.

But seriously, has there ever been a bigger A-HOLE in our life time,I do not think so!

Get rid of that canker sore and go green, before it's too late

Time on this little planet of ours is ticking and we better smarten up quickly and go for clean energy.all sorts of jobs putting in solar panels and wind-mills for clean energy.

Maybe try and have the changing tides somehow harnessed to supply us,or geothermal anything to get away from the money grubbing oil corporations killing the planet.

Based on what exactly?

Based on the Democrats not being able to field a legit candidate

They have good candidates but none of them have that big-name-draw. Its going to end up being Bernie or Biden and neither of those guys can beat Trump. They might as well retread Hillary again.

Mueller report blowing up in their faces didn't particularly help anything for them either

And Trump is a legitimate candidate? I get that he's galvanized the god-fearing, Muslim-fearing, Mexican-fearing, wholesome 'Muricans.

I think you're buying into Trump's koolaid a bit too hard. Certainly, his flock will come out to support their messiah (or furher), but that doesn't mean that there will be voter apathy on the other side of the spectrum. If the mid-terms were any indication, the voter turnout for the next presidential election in the US may break records. Both Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden are extremely potent public figures who are far more articulate and well spoken that the Moron in Chief could ever hope to be.

How did the Mueller report blow up in their face exactly? It still contains a load of damning evidence, that clearly Drumpf and his personal assistants in the Department of Justice (?) feel threatened by enough to redact.

Believe it or not, there are still plently (millions) of Americans who believe in country over party, and see the Republican party for the corroded and compromised piggy bank for the wealthy that it is. I'm not saying that Dumbpf will lose in a landslide (as I'm sure he'll ignite his flock with despicable rhetoric to frighten them into submission), but I can't see it being a given that he gets another four years to further defile the US.

I wonder if a Biden - Sanders ticket could be a winner?

Totally. I just don't think that they're close enough in their approach to governing to make it work. Biden is very centrist in his politics and wouldn't really represent a sea change in politics, more so a return to Democratic normalcy, which would probably be a welcome change for a country that is cracking under the despotic attempts at dictatorship by the present assclown in chief.

I think that Sanders' approach would work for the US in the long run, but too much of the population is fooled into equating socialist policies with communism.

That being said, and seeing how American politics is so entrenched in appearance, it would probably behoove each of them to engage with a younger running mate.

I saw an article suggesting a Kamala - Mayor Pete ticket yesterday. Makes the most sense to me, unless one of them screws up the primaries....
