Popular Post Kanuck_Krazy
Botch was my absolute favourite sports writer. He was such a troll at times and I loved it. He was a tough critic for sure but with homer's like Mcintyre you needed a little salt to balance with that sugar. Super sad for his family and gone way too young. He did leave a group of up and comers who have grown because of Botch. Ryan Biech and Cam are both Botch guys. I will miss the Athletiies I read every one this year. Big reason I became a VIP. Hopefully they keep going with the Athletties with Brough and such. Rip Botch gonna miss you. 2 3

canucksnihilist
Sad sad sad. you may have issues with his opinion - but not with how much he cared. He is missed! Just as a rejoinder to some critics - he didn’t take himself that seriously apparently, a true bright spot in the Canucks community. 2
EP Phone Home
He did his job well, when he wrote articles people would listen whether it was good or bad. He got peoples attention and sometimes got this forum all wild up with his bad cop way of journalism. While I most often wouldn’t agree with his work, he did it very well. On a personal note it’s too young to leave family at 48 and I don’t wish this one on anyone. You only have one shot and one life, so when you hear stuff like this it’s humbling for sure. Makes you take a step back and makes you appreciate life more because death can take it away at any moment. RIP Botchman, and all the best going forward to your wife and kids without you in their life. Edited May 6, 2019 by EP Phone Home

Popular Post rekker
I liked Botch and I'm shocked to find this as his cause of death. Drugs are the devil. More times than not there is no escape from it's evil grasps. I hope people will not pass judgement and respect his family during what must be a heart wrenching time in their lives. RIP. Popular Post Roger Neilsons Towel
You just can’t tell what’s in hard drugs anymore. Not worth the risk. Especially for a man with a family. Very sad. 6

I’ve never been into drugs, weed, or alcohol, but I’ve been a heavy escort user for a long time. A friend of mine got a nasty STF awhile back. I guess what I’m trying to say is that we all have our vices and weaknesses and it’s best to recognize what they are before it hits home or close to home. Tre Mac
Dam that's a shock. I am hearing Sekeres reading the coroner report and I honestly thought it would be about Red Bull not fentenyl. Condolences to his family.
Me_
Apparently Botchford died of an accidental overdose. “A coroner's report said Botchford, 48, died after overdosing on cocaine and fentanyl on April 25, 2019. His death has been formally classified as an accident.” Vancouver sports writer Jason Botchford died of accidental overdose: coroner's report
Elias Pettersson
Botchford was a good guy. But he had a wife and 3 kids. If he was an addict he should have told his wife and got some help. It seems his wife was shocked by the news so she didn't know. That's too bad. Everybody knows that the cocaine these days is mixed with Fetanyl. At 48 years old he should have known better. But I understand as I have a family member who also has a wife and 2 kids who was a cocaine addict. His wife only found out 3 years ago. Luckily she intervened and put my cousin in rehab for 2 months. He hasn't touched the stuff in over 2 years. Doesn't even drink anymore which was causing him to do the drugs as well. He's a completely different person now and I am able to hang out with him. Too bad Botchford didn't open up. Quite sad to hear this. My heart breaks for the family, especially the kids...
starsholdmalice
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/jason-botchford-vancouver-canucks-writer-overdose-cause-of-death-1.5704179 Reading through that article, it just makes me sad on how fentanyl seems to be impacting anyone and everyone. I think during these times, there must be a higher rate of fentanyl overdoses too, as people are at home, silently suffering, and maybe reaching for tools like this to help them through. Stay safe y'all.
bishopshodan
How sad. I really liked Botch. Maybe people can take from this that it is not just the DTES and street people dying. Drugs are everywhere and a bit more general support and empathy is needed. I
Popular Post cuporbust
I've lost 8 friends in 2 years this way. All had been though recovery at least once. It's an animal that's really hard to control. Sad news.
