So this quote does prove he is a liar. My objection over the use of the word "liar" is withdraw. :)

Washington has apparently been trying to help him for a while now but he apparently didn't use the night of the video.

From the article below:  When they first were informed of the positive test, Capitals officials were upset that Kuznetsov apparently lied to them following the appearance of the video. However, according to the person with knowledge of the situation, Kuznetsov maintains that he did not take drugs the night the video was taken.

He is being punished accordingly, read the article. He's being suspended for 4 years by the IIHF. The NHL is a different story...

“Unlike the IIHF, cocaine is not considered a performance enhancing drug and is therefore not a Prohibited Substance under the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program.  Instead, it is considered a drug of abuse that is tested for and for which intervention, evaluation and mandatory treatment can occur in appropriate cases."

So people who use drugs should lose their jobs? Your doctor, lawyer, nurse, chef at a restaurant, kid flipping burgers, you name it...all those jobs people pay money to have performed... if those folks spend money they earn at their jobs on drugs they should be fired? Cuz' that's what you're saying...John & Jane Q Public pay money for goods and services, and if people earn money based on that spending then John & Jane are "paying for that habit". That's absurd.

I’m really not in the mood to argue on the internet with you on whether I have the right to an opinion. I read it, understood it. You don’t need to teach me when and how I can have an opinion of my own.

I don’t support drug use and sure don’t want to pay a doctor or kid flipping burgers who is a drug addict or recreational drug user. I can’t control that as I don’t know what each individual does on their own time. But if I know, I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

You have the right to say what you like on his drug abuse all you want and I won’t istruct you on how to change that statement. If you like drugs and condone that, go for it.

Go bother someone else.

Awe, you are a sensitive lil' butterfly.

Never fear, little butterfly! I shall not bother you any longer.

Go, fly! Be free butterfly, be free!

I personally hope he gets banned for a long time. He isn’t the only one in the NHL usung drugs, but I think that everone that gets caught should be penalized accordingly and not be allowed to play in the NHL. People watching pay for that habbit of his. So once you go down that road you should pay the piper and not be allowed to enjoy that anymore.

He did get banned from IIHF for 4 yrs. I think that's too long.. 1 year would be enough unless repeat offender.

Not being allowed in NHL means losing his job. That's ridiculous. About a third of the country would lose their jobs if everyone was tested.

25% of Canadians are abusing drugs. Many many more have experimented with them..

If he's in a position of responsibility for others including minors while at work, yes he should be fired. Example a teacher or police officer. But a hockey player or football player partying on his own time. I couldn't care less..

People watching are paying him for his entertainment services. He's not getting charity. He's just like Hollywood actors or musicians. Getting paid to entertain.

So he's banned from international play for 4 years after testing positive for cocain but in the NHL it's not considered "performance enhancing" and so no consequence at all? Questions like this one, headshots without actions etc. makes me wonder how Bill Daly sleeps at night...

I mean - maybe suspend him for the season and make sure he's clean for a number of tests with months in between before he's cleared to play again, no?

No, they can only do what the CBA sets out. Rehab and counseling on the first offense. If he re-"offends" then the repercussions increase.

Yeah, I know, you're right, just venting some frustration with the regulations in these matters. Not saying he should be banned for life or anything, just that I think it should be looked upon as more serious than having one too many drinks.

Cocaine isn't a performance enhancing drug unless you're doing it on the bench. Otherwise, it's a handicap.

I'm guessing you know absolutely nothing about the properties of cocaine.

Cocaine doesn't (really) enhance performance. The high lasts for about 15 mins TOPS, depending on the purity and you'll have to maintain it. The high is not worth it before or during an NHL game because of how pointless it is. The difference is maybe marginal at best.

On the other hand, cocaine possession is a totally different thing.

Matheson assaults EP40, giving him a concussion = 2 game suspension.

Kuz snorts some cocaine, only causing harm to himself = people want him banned for a whole season?

I've never done cocaine, never will, and frankly, it kinda disgusts me.  That being said, bringing the hammer down only discourages the guys who actually need the help to seek it.  Pushing those players away into hiding could easily cost them their lives; it already has in too many cases.  If it starts to effect performance, it's up to the team to do whatever's necessary for the player.  Consider what happened with Kassian for an example.

I think Loui Eriksson was in that Motel room with Kuz doing blow. I'm sure he was. Three year suspension please?!?

Has he broken any laws? I mean charged, prosecuted and found guilty. Shouldn't a player have to be found guilty in a court of a law before he's suspended? Seems silly a guy can be suspended based on a picture and hearsay.

And it would be silly, however he also failed a test and thus the IIhf has suspended him.

This. Again and again.

Lots of hypocrites, bible thumpers and straight up liars chiming in. Not all but many.

You’d lose 2/3 of the players in the NHL if they were fired for drug use.

Wake up.
