(Rumour) Poolparty wants out of Edmonton

Had Jim Benning had the opportunity to draft the Edmonton picks, they’d have a Cup by now.

Some teams win Cups. Other teams

win 1OAs.

Ya, the Canucks have sure shown their penchant for winning cups.

I would sure love to take a stab at him, I wonder what Edmonton would want in return.  Does Holland have a history of not wanting to trade within the division?

I’d do it but doubt Edmonton would. Maybe with Goldobin or a prospect or a pick.

Edmonton isn’t going to do that.

What about this trade offer:

Van: Puljuljarvi

Edm: Eriksson (50 percent retained as some have mentioned); Goldobin, and 4th round pick.

Edmonton might want a 2nd or 3rd round pick. But for the Canucks to take on a project like Jesse is being considered at this point, then no. I don't care how young he is, he's approaching "bust" territory if he can't get his game together and soon. Canucks are taking a lot of risk for that. And Edmonton doesn't really have a lot of leverage when it comes to Puljuljarvi. He wants out. He's made that public. He's almost labeled as a "bust" as someone who has not lived up to his draft pedigree. I don't know how Holland could demand much of anything for this kid.

That being said. Vancouver is a division rival. We'd be fighting for a playoff spot against the Oilers. So I think Holland would want more because he's dealing within the Division.

Canucks should've traded dahlen for pool when they still had him. Add a late pick if need be but that should've happened.

Dahlen was a highly ranked prospect along with a pick for a pool party who has struggled to stay in a weak Edmonton lineup? I think the value is there his 4th overall status only goes so far. Ken Holland also likes his Swedes.

Puljujarvi, such a fall from grace. If I was drafted by the Oilers I would walk up to the floor, grab the microphone and announce my retirement from hockey. I’m not even joking. Why even try? You gotta wait like 8 years before you can get the hell out. It’s such a gross, cold place too. You can’t even go anywhere because everyone swarms you. There is no nature to enjoy just scraggly lodgepole pine and lakes that are really just mosquitoes infested slews. At least Calgary has the mountains. Winnipeg is competitive.  As a fan of the game I’m getting tired of Edmonton screwing players up. Imagine McDavid on a real hockey team. Even if it’s not your team, hating him brings excitement. I can’t even hate him, My heart aches for him. He can say whatever he wants about his commitment but when you look into his eyes he is dead.

I think if you took out the LE aspect, you might be getting closer..

Goldobin and a pick = something I would do, maybe a possibility depending on how cold the JP market gets.  The problem with Edmonton's ruined prospects....how many have recoverd from Edmontonization?  Perhaps JP is dealing with the stigma of Deadmonton 'development'.

Puljujaarvi is waiver eligible - so personally, if he were coming this way and not as part of any fantasy Lucic dump on Deadmonton's part - I'd still probably only offer them a likewise waiver eligible guy - ie Goldobin - on the edge of the lineup.   No guarantee Puljujaarvi could make this team, so the price imo would have to be moderate (but sending them LE's contract seems a tad optimistic).

If you want to move LE, maybe try Ottawa, and add a legit top 6 forward (ie Baertschi), while taking back some salary?

Fixed.  EDM may consider this one a bit more.

I think we still need to add. Edmonton would probably be more interested in Virtanen or Juolevi. Sutter might be hard to move for a player with value (Pulijujarvi is probably worth a 2nd right now) even at 50% retained.

The dude asked for a trade. The Canucks are in a position of strength.

Sutter is no slouch. Fast, defensive, I’d say this instead:

VAN

Puljujarvi

EDM

Sutter @ 50% retained

Eriksson @ 50% retained

Two defensive specialists at half-price to one of the most defensively porous team in the league.

That is even worse - Eriksson at 50% retained still has negative value to a team near the cap.
