I really damn hope the Canucks hired him the best English tutor available in Russia.

Or at the very least a Swedish tutor.

One thing I that gives me concern is communication. If he can't speak decent English, it will be more likely that he either mis understand the coaching staff or have trouble making friends and bond with his teammates ala Tram.

Goes up 3 spots to select soderstrom XD

Philly probably would have picked him off they kept the pick. If not, Florida also wanted a RHD. He wouldn't have fell.

Too bad he won't be here for two years even if he is ready.

KHL contracts have flexibility for young players who are draft eligible into the NHL. I doubt he's 2 years away. His skill and physical game make him a no brainer for the Canucks. He was noticeable in the World juniors as a 17 year old. Russians rarely get playing time at that age and he's still 17 for a few more days.

So much for the draft of the US kids.

Just goes to show you, mocks are good for giving you a base of what players will be in the top 15, but not the order.

I know he has Top 5 skill. But drafting a Russian this high scares the crap out of me due to the KHL risk. That said, I’m going to trust Benning with this one. When it comes to drafting he knows what he’s doing. In Benning We Trust.

I feel bad for that Montreal lady. In her defense Kotkaniemi did seem super off the board :( Lol

Tryamkin will be a big fan of this.

Love it.

Didn't think we'd tak Pod but wow what a bold pick.

He's a player for sure

His style of play will compliment Petey and Boeser. He goes to the hard areas with purpose.

I dont think we have a trade for Barrie lined up anymore.

Benning looked pretty damn deflated during his interview.  Looked kinda pissed off tbh.
