Popular Post CRAZY_4_NAZZY
Kid's approach to the game doesn't seem to change whether he is used as a checker, 4th line grinder, or a top six scorer. Has a great attitude, plays the game hard, and doesn't appear to ever take shifts off. No matter where he slots, he seems to excel, kinda like a Bo Horvat sort of player, where he will get his business done whoever he plays with or where he is in the lineup. To have that level of versatility and being elite in those areas is going to do wonders for Podkolzin to win over the trust of the coaches and players. So excited to see him come over in a year and half's time. 2 3

When I came to Vancouver, I was 35 years old, mature man with family. And it was hard for me to adapt to North America life style . Based on my experience, Vasilii will have to go through tough time adapting to life here. He will need all support he can get from management, media, fans and community. Yep. Pods is a teammate though- you know that.

Popular Post Chronic.Canuck
Imagine an 18 year old in the AHL with a 4 game point streak who just won a fight against a grown man. This kid is gonna be a bulldozer by the time he's 20 and an absolute terror to play against. I think he can really learn from Miller how to use his body to his advantage to slow things down on the boards - he's amazing through open ice and if he could develop that other part of his game even further it would be a great addition to his toolbox. I think next year his time in the KHL and WJC will really open people's eyes to what kid of player he really can be for us. 4

He’s got a real nasty/mean streak, and combines that with size, high IQ, and lots of skill. JB said he saw Pods as a support player, but I’m seeing a core piece. Did we draft, again, the best player in the Pod’s draft?

If Podkolzin turns in to half the player Messier was, that's 3 cups and over 900 points in his career. For all the flack we give Messier and rightfully so for his wasted time here, the guy was and is the epitome of a leader and he did literally anything to win and did it without caring who got in his way. I'd take a bowlful of that in Podkolzin if that's his comparable. 3 3

That's NOT what I'd want Podz to be.

I want him to shove his broken stick down someone's throat. A decade of nice hockey where our only meat was Bertuzzi got us nowhere. Locke Lamora
Pod comparisons to Messier were soooooo one month ago. But since this topic has flared up again I’ll standby my original opinion that stylistically, it’s not an off base comparison. Messier in is prime, say what you want about him, was a tremendous PITA to play against - before he came to Van to cash some big cheques. There are signs that Podz could be that for us. A less weasely Matt Tkachuk perhaps. 1

But you gotta admit he had one hell of a career. The comparison wasn't super exact in all likelihood. I don't think they meant it like Pod and Messier are the exact same player down to every little detail. Just that Pod reminds them of Messier.
