There have been a fair few players more effective than Pav? Obviously Gretzky was mesmerizing beyond any description.

Man, who was ever more a pure adrenaline rush?  Fluck he was fun to watch!

But were in for such a treat with Elias Pettersson. He breaks ankles like Datsyuk, drops backhand dimes  like Hank Sedin and still shoots as good as anyone not named Ovechkin.

That said...  Who is the closest to Pavel Bure, in todays game?

Kucherov has the speed, and is pretty slick. Not quite the power? The Hughes brothers are also going to be sic! Maybe MacKinnon or Patrick Kane??

Patrick Kane.  Hate to say it.

These are just comparable players, not one player in the league is as dynamic as Bure.

Before Bure, the other player that was as dynamic was also nicknamed the 'Rocket'  too.

Podkolzin played for SKA in the club's first exhibition game of preseason vs Khimik, Voskresensk (VHL club) on July 28. Podkolzin (RW, 18 y.o.) played on the line with Ogirchuk (LW, 19 y.o.) and Jarno Koskiranta (C, 32 y.o.). SKA won 3-2, Podkolzin no points. The club also played another VHL club Tambov in the same day so the line combinations don't mean much.

Looks like a professional team playing against a beer league team based on those uniforms.

The Russian Olympic team is preparing for Sochi Open Hockey tournament. Podkolzin played with two other SKA players in the training camp - Kirill Marchenko RW, 19 y.o., drafted by Columbus 49th overall in 2018 and Danil Savunov C, 18 y.o., drafted by Arizona 174th overall in 2019.

Podkolzin is going to be one heck of a good player.  My goodness.  He has all that skill and hockey smarts, and he’s mean too.

I love how he has his head up pretty much the entire time. He can easily see the puck, but he knows when someone is cutting in front and how to act accordingly. He won’t be the “head-down” type :)

He looks an awful lot like Matt Damon in the Bourne series of movies

Podkolzin reminds me of a young Messier.  He’s strong, skilled, smart, high compete, will do anything to win, and HE IS MEAN.

Podkolzin will prove (like Petey and Quinn) to be the best player in his draft.

oh man if the kid can do that in the NHL he's going to be an instant favourite.

Thanks for keeping up with the Podkolzin updates @Stierlitz

As long as he doesn't take the C from Horvat and gets him traded, then all good.

I hope you are right on that Alf! He would make a great top 6 addition in a year or two
