That being said, I imagine of the players left only Podkolzin and maybe Boldy would likely be NHL ready in the same timeframe that Petey and Hughes were, so you're probably right about anyone else taking 2 years or more. I'd still love to see us negotiate for his release after one season, especially if he lights it up next year. It'd be pretty cool to see him and Tryam back in the lineup at the same time. If not anything else, it would keep our streak of Calder contenders intact Another thing to keep in mind: Hughes and EP40 are Oct/Nov birthdays who were turning 19 the year that they were drafted. Podkolzin is still 17 for a few more days and is one of the younger guys in his draft. That means if Podkolzin was drafted in 2020 instead, he would be four months older than Hughes was when he got drafted. If Podkolzin plays two more seasons in the KHL then make the jump around March 2021 once his season is over, he would've made the NHL as a 19 year old who's turning 20 -- same as Hughes this year. EP40 made his debut a month before his 20th birthday. Boeser played two years of college hockey after the draft and made the NHL a month after he turned 20. So Podkolzin isn't behind our other young guns if he takes two years. Edited June 22, 2019 by GoldenAlien 3 7

I hope both play in our top 6 in a few years time! 1

Popular Post Kobayashi Maru
Love this pick. Top 5 talent with grit, speed and skill. Total package. I think we just added a young Tarasenko to our lineup in a couple years. Great job JB 3 2

Boeser, Pettersson, Hughes, and possibly this guy! Then we still have Virtanen, Juolevi, Demko, Tryamkin, Gaudette, Woo, Lind, Madden, and much more. Our cupboards are stacked!!! 1 hour ago, CRAZY_4_NAZZY said: I love this pick. People focusing too much on his nationality and him being signed for 2 years in Russia are being short sighted. He already is NHL ready. Having two more years in the KHL against men and very skilled players will return a very nicely polished product. I love how he plays the game. No matter who we drafted we were most likely 2 years away from seeing them anyway. That, the Tryamkin effect, and his sky high potential makes this a great pick. Even if he busts Benning 100% made the right pick as it stands tonight imo. Thats also how i felt when we took Virtanen, though i am still expecting him to really break out anytime now, but i understand why some people are losing patients. 1 hour ago, BabychStache said: Love it. Popular Post *Buzzsaw*
For those who worry about Podkolzin not coming to the NHL... that usually happens with the smaller type players who have difficulties in dealing with small rinks and the physical play. Poddy is a big physical player whose style fits the NHL perfectly. He is only 17 now, and is 6' 1" and 196 lbs... he will likely be 6' 2" and 210-215 lbs by the time he gets here. He has excellent speed, is aggressive physically and also will get his nose in the scrums and rough stuff. He has enough talent and physicality to make game breaking plays if given room. The Canucks needed more size in their forwards and this is exactly what he will bring. His downside is he is inconsistent in his goalscoring, but that problem could be solved if he was partnered with EP40 and doesn't have to do all the work himself. He went lower in the draft than was expected... because a lot of teams jumped on the US development team bandwagon and went with US player picks. Personally I think a lot of those US players will not look as good in the NHL as they did on that stacked US junior team. 5

The way you broke it down really makes it seem a lot sooner rather than later. Teams win with solid contributions from guys on ELC’s and a better than average mid 20’s core. By the time he’s done dominating the K, EP, Brock and Bo will have a ton of games under their belt and should be competing with the big dogs of the west. We can hopefully enjoy some decent playoff runs.
sonoman
Could wingers on their offside work well together? Possibly put Jake with Bo and Pod. Jake has had some decent shifts playing on his offside and Pod naturally shooting left off the RW, could be good?
