Our young core guys are ready to make the push forward for the playoffs.  Those young guys are good players, and deserve to have top players (on good contracts, who are in their primes) supporting them.

Young core? Pettersson, Horvat and Boeser, Hughes unknown yet for sure, he might be good at scoring but a horrible defensive defense man.

Benning is running the team like the rebuild is finished.

Is a playoff appearance mean the rebuild is a success? What about in 4 years? Three quarters of this group will need to be replaced so this is looking at lot like the double rebuild Colorado is dealing with.

Doesn’t feel like Benning is done. Still hasn’t traded anyone on the team.

Feels like may still be things coming.

Hope there is. Would like to see a d come in before ufas.

Just hope he doesn’t trade Jake to get it done.

agree on all points.  Trading Jake now would be counterproductive.  They've got a chance at building three solid scoring lines that can all play in their own end as well.  Jake is excellent value for his cap hit.

IMO, they go for Stalman and a bottom pairing defensive specialist in UFA.

JTM is 218 pounds, skilled, puts up 50 points, plays all three forward positions, is hard to play against, is 26, and signed to a great four year contract.  He’s a really good guy for our team.

Have seen lightning fans on HF say he is overpaid. We shall see I guess. Seems like an overpayment for a guy who we are hoping becomes better than what he has shown

No it is one 1rst round lottery pick, teams only get one per year and if they blow their pick it cost two year to make it up. That is why Boston and NYR were and are able to rebuild in three years or less, they had 4 or 5 years worth of 1rst round picks in 2/3 years.

Good points for sure, but I think our young core is very good, and the supporting parts around them is sustainable considering the youth in our prospects.  We have Woo and Rathbone for D.  The forwards coming will be Podkolzin, Lind, and Kappen.  There are others too.

It’s time to move forward and see what we can do.

Hey that one draft pick has turned into:

Horvat

Boeser

Pettersson

Hughes

That is the quality of player we are giving up by surrendering our first.

Nice spin. It's like we got him for a 3rd.

well, a player taken in 2021, likely a late pick, probably won't see NHL action until 2025.  At least two of Petey, Bo, Boes, Hughes, OJ and Demko will llikely be gone by then.  Hard to blame JB for wanting to get that group some immediate help rather than a possibility 6 years from now.

A first that could be two years out and us a playoff team. What so many of you seem to ignore is Tampa has to wait for that pick and it's anywhere from 3 to 5 years away from stepping on NHL ice. If we're still rebuilding by then some current core will be getting traded for assets.

Or, the pick is deferred until 2021 and we win the lottery.

I just want JTM to continue along his current path of play.  He’s really good as is.

I like this trade...as long as JT Miller keeps improving, which I believe he will playing with EP40 and BB6, this team is starting to get hard to play against...the only thing left to do now is.....

FIX THE "D"!!
