They were the ones who were trying to get rid of JT so not sure I love the deal. JT on the other hand is solid. Hope he can sustain his level of play for 4 years and I think he can. Does anyone have any advanced stuff on JT? Corsi above 50% (53.8%), despite more defensive usage (48.6% offensive zone starts). Played a more defensive role in Tampa than in New York, which probably partly explains his drop in production. In New York, he was producing at a Bo Horvat level (Mid to high 50s in points). Was pretty bad in the faceoff zone (low to mid 40%) until two years ago when he added that facet to his game. Last year he was at 49.4% and two years ago he was at 54.3%. Either way, he's more likely to play wing for us. 1
Tystick
I like the trade because we didn't give up a prospect. Tampa is cap dumping a quality player for our 2019 3rd round pick and our 2020/21 first. Unless we make more trades, look at it this way: Baertschi(Panarin?) - Pettersson - Boeser Miller - Horvat - Virtanen Picks can be reacquired. No big deal. Popular Post Shiftynifty
Why are we pretending we don’t have to pay up to get a relatively young top-six guy? He’s big, produces 50ish points and good on the PP. I think it is a fair trade.

Junkyard Dog
Not a crazy amount of protection but a nice added bonus of physical play on top of his offensive prowess. I still think we should should do a Lucic/Eriksson swap. Edited June 22, 2019 by Junkyard Dog
Trebreh
I like it, people are overreacting but a 1st round pick is the price you usually pay for a top 6 forward at that age. the best part is the fLames wanted him and we got him :D

I.Am.Ironman
The return stings a bit but I am sure the TB Lightning are also sad to see him go. Probably the signs of a fair trade. That being said I would have rather traded 2x2nd round picks + 2xB prospects for Subban... I think. Hopefully we can squeeze Risto out of buffalo I am happy that Virtanen is still a Canuck though! All the rumours had me a wee bit nervous. 1
Junkyard Dog
Adding Lucic on top of Miller would add to this teams physicality moving forward. Especially with Visili in the wings guys like Tryamkin and Woo potentially coming here. I would of liked to maybe sign ferland but he’s gonna get overpaid for and we just got Miller. I’ve been slacking on NHL coverage lately but if there’s no one trying to reach the floor then I’m down to throw in a guy like DiPietro honestly. Makaramel MacKhiato
I think we can all agree that a guy like Miller is EXACTLY what we need. But the price was absolutely too steep. Why throw in the 3rd if there's the 1st already? This guy is a Kesler-lite on a Kesler-like contract. Let him battle in the corners to feed Petey and Boeser on the top line. He should get 20 goals and 50+ points in the next 4 seasons. Benning is sending a message that we're on the verge of playoffs.
Trebreh
Green loves the acquisition! it looks like we got our top LW to play with Petey and Brock and mentioned Bo with Pearson on the 2nd line but no mention of Beartschi... hmmm making room for Panarin i see.
