Do have a question for those who follow the WHL and their take on Hit man defenseman Jackson Van De Leest the guy is a moose...6'7 - 229 lbs hometown Kelowna. I think he is draft eligible this year. Impressive looking. Pair him with Tryamkin or Meyers.

With Podz, Virtanen and MacEwen we have 3 NHL players that can play with an edge and speed. My issue is that Green has never really done a good job at integrating these guys into the lineup. He's more happy to stay with the players he knows.

He got in one fight....he ain't no Wilson or Reaves. I mean....I hope he could be. But that is wishful thinking imo.

He will stand up for teammates and battle. He is more on a Zack Kassian level of toughness. Not as dominant as Wilson or Reaves. We could still use this on our team. 1 1

What is your statement based on kenhodgejr? I really am curious. I really hope Big Mac does end up being a tough big player that is hard to play against. But even the Sedins averaged 30-60 PIMs per year they played just by hooking and grabbing penalties. What about MacEwan's low PIMs make you think he could be tough in the NHL? His PIMs are nowhere near where Kassian's were. As far as I am concerned, you are just making stuff up right now about how "tough" Big Mac is...even though I wish he was in real life. I await your response. Edited February 14, 2020 by Kanukfanatic

I dunno, pims doesn't = toughness necessarily. I get your point but pointing out pims isn't the way to get it accross. 1

I await your response. My statement is based on me watching all his fight footage since we got him as a prospect. Look on hockey fights. He has been fighting since jr. Im basing the comparison off of average fight won. Kassian doesn't always win his fights. He lost a lot more when he was younger. MacEwan wins probably 40% of the time but the thing is he doesn't hesitate to fight way out of his weight class. He fought Tom Sestitio in the AHL. Lost the fight but probably learned a thing or two. Same with the fight against Mark Borowieki. He handled himself well against Marcus Foligno and Barclay Gurdrow. Both legit tough men. He is the toughest guy on our team and he is only 23 years old. Kassian is 29. Kassian does a lot of stupid stuff on the ice and it costs his team. MacEwan has a better head on his shoulders. Coaches prefer a guy who doest take bad penalties but will fight when needed. I have also seen MacEwan get hit by some big punches and stay on his feet. There is no shame in loosing a fight to a tougher guy as long as you know you gave it a good go. But I believe it won't take long before MacEwan decidedly beats some of the leagues tougher guys and then other teams might think twice about running our players like Pettersson if they know big Mac is going go after them! He didn't even cost us a draft pick. Solid find for Benning. 1 4 2
dpn1
Considering he was undrafted, his career has been great. Another great find by Jim & Co.
