Not at all surprising.  Looks like Goldobin is given another chance to prove he's got what it takes.

Pouliot, Gaunce and Granlund were all disappointing this year. but there's also no space for them now either.

I'm actually a bit surprised by Granlund. He's a fairly versatile player and inexpensive. I'd take him over Motte. Maybe it's simply a role issue, adn we have better players to fill out our top nine.

There are all sorts of players not getting qualified though. The flames are tossing Rychel, and I remember when he was considered one of Columbus' future stars. . .

I personally wish Gaunce was qualified but clearly he's not viewed highly by this management group.  If anything, Gaunce seems like a good depth player that could be kept around for depth with the Comets.  Are there that much better UFA depth Cs or LWs available?  I suppose the Canucks could still re-sign Gaunce but looks like it's a farewell to another former 1st Rd pick.

The Canucks are heading into free agency with quite a few contract spots open so it will be very interesting to see how things unfold.

I know many like Hutton, I do too, but he's fully replaceable. In my view he's  a tweener and as such more of 5/6 depth guy, and as such he's not worth the 4.5 needed to retain him with a qualifying offer.

He's big but doesn't use his body enough to be a punisher

Good skater and decent offensively but not a pp specialist

Decent defensively but no Tanev / defensive specialist.

I'd be fine with us running with Sautner and Brisbois who are due for an opportunity and do everything well also. Hutton has become redundant and unless he's willing to take 5/6 money we don't need him, he's never going to be a difference maker.
