PhillipBlunt
Yes! That’s what you get, Spoon! What’s with Friedman throwing in the sympathy vote? If Spoony McSpoon wanted to stick, he’d have put more effort into his play. 1

JM_
purely a cash flow move. We save 2 mil this year but costs us 1 mil next year but we have more cap space open next year. Which means, Hello Mr. Myers.

Kobayashi Maru
This is a good move. Spreads the cap hit out a bit which helps a bit.
Popular Post Smashian Kassian
Just over 2 million saved this year. Gotta be a sign for free agency. Spooner's a borderline nhl player at this point. Glad we're moving on. Edited June 29, 2019 by Smashian Kassian

I think he stays to shelter Gaudette and take defensive load off of Bo. He is an effective defensive C, plus I don't think he has much value at this point. The Canucks are better off letting him play and help the team, which in turn boosts his value. The only way I see him moved is in part of a deal for Risto but I don't see that happening as Buffalo, rightfully so, doesn't attribute much value to him given his injuries over the past few seasons.

Not a buyout as it won't help the cap much. I expect him to get moved though. Canucks making room for Gustav Nyquist and Tyler Myers...

Popular Post Canadian
If he was buried this year, it would’ve cost the Canucks a 2.2 cap hit, and the 3.1 salary. This saves FAQ about a million in real dollars, and then spreads that 2.2 over this year and next. Saves us 2 million in cap, a spot in Utica and an extra contract space. Good news all around. 1
Popular Post King Heffy
Would have preferred just paying him to play in Utica rather than spreading out the pain. I trust there's a reason behind this though. 2

While it adds a million next year, with the moves we will likely make this offseason, there may not be much done next offseason. The cap going up next season should mitigate the million transferred to next season. This move may not have been done had the recapture penalty not occurred. 1
