TORONTO, ON - The Toronto Maple Leafs have found the next man up to take a stab at one of the most difficult positions in all of sports, the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

An agreement was quickly reached between the CDCGML Executive Committee and former Vegas and Detroit General Manager, RL. Life has been rough for RL. for the past year, with a brief stint as the General Manager of the Golden Knights sandwiched between some big life events. But with everything now seeming to be sorted, it looks like the RL. of old is back, and looking forward to running the storied franchise.

"Nothing beats playing in this league," said RL. at a scrum. "The level of competition, especially in the East, is absurd but also ridiculously fun. A team built top to bottom, stocked with prospects and depth at all positions is needed to be able to even sniff the playoffs in this conference, at that makes it all the more fun".

When asked about his plans with the roster, RL. was blunt. "There are a few players we absolutely love as a management group. I am not going to stand here and lie about how much of an impact Thomas Chabot had in my decision to join this franchise. I am a firm believer of building from the back end out, and having a true #1 defenceman at the age of 22 is something that every franchise strives for. We are looking forward to playing chess with the pieces that we have, and how we can maneuver ourselves to build a roster that is to my liking and compete level."

"THE PHONE LINES ARE OPEN," said RL. with confidence and a smile. "We look forward to touching base on some players we like, but the team looks like its in a bit of a flux by being in the middle of the pack. We look forward to talking trade and tweaking some of the pieces we have, and building a roster that we know can be competitive for years to come."

It feels good to be back :)

ASSIGNMENT: The Winnipeg Jets have assigned Brendan Lemieux, Cody Glass, Sebastian Aho, Rasmus Sandin, Ilya Lyubushkin, John Marino and Chris Driedger to the minors.

Wish I had consistent NHL players to toss in the minors <_<

Wow! Yamamoto has been an offensive breath of fresh air, meanwhile Bjorkstrand has two games under his belt since injury, with four goals and two game winners...

that said, it has been reported that even more offensive strength is on its way... has the goaltender log jam finally broken?!

...and Tarasenko has started skating...

rumblings from deep beyond the gates of Mordor... beware

Edmonton all star break report;

The executive summary?  We sit improved, but outside our goal of being a play off team. And in a fantasy perspective, not so close to competing in GML that we anticipate being buyers this deadline to get there. Our forward crew need a significant boost! What will we do at the deadline?

Well?

An eval of where we are at says we really accomplished a goal of improving our defence. We paid a lot, but have great play from Matt Niskanen, who plays with vet Oskar Klefbom. They have been great, anchor our team! Vet Ian Cole has been equally solid playing with phoenom Rasmus Dahlin. There is also still Alex Romanoff plus some solid B level prospects close to joining our team. We won't intentionally dismantle our D. But will listen to offers on veteran D.

At forward we have been pleased to ice a legitimate line up.  But really, behind Patrick Kane, no one has stepped forward. Thats not completely true? Nick Paul, Curtis Lazaar & Rasmus Asplund all have made our line up. Those are not high output guys though. Henrik Borgstrom & Lias Andresson, expected to play in our middle 6 have proven they need more AHL tim. And we did not land any vets UFA to help cushion whether they made it or not.  Our forward crew has been a fantasy dissapointment, the source of our sitting outside thee play off's. We have dynamic prospects in Grig Denisenko & Alex Turcotte, A level prospect Nolan Foote, B prospects Tyler Benson & others. We'll have to play the patient game. We could make a hockey trade, a D for a roster young forward?

In goal the worlds #1 prospect, Igor Shestyorkin has made his debut. We also have young goalie Alex Georgiev. And prospect Marcus Hogberg has been starting a lot of games in NHL ottawa.  A backup goalie is availableCorey Crwaford is still with us, we could send him to a contending team that might use some extra reg season points tto posture for the post season.  Who knows, Corey a rental may land with a contending team? But we will retain and accept a 4th round pick @da.moose if we can get Corey to a contending team.  Georgiev & Hogberg could both be sttarters next year, and we will ensure neither are buried.

Happy All Star break!
