Edler Stecher Hughes Myers Juolevi Benn That is at least a passable D. Probably not going to win us a playoff round, but that shouldn’t be the expectation next year I wonder if JB isn't as convinced that Try is coming back next year.........if he does, someone has to be moved out, likely Stetch

This team needed another top 4 Dman. Go start a thread. It's UFA day. Stay on topic or start a thread regarding what ever else you want. Regular day different. I don't wanna go thru 2 pages of what Tanev trade value is worth when come to find Benn signing details. someone piss in your Canada Day cornflakes this morning? 2

Popular Post Dixon Ward
Nobody wants to give JB props for anything. He went into the offseason saying he would re-build the defence. This is a difficult thing to do. He has done the following. Re-signed Alex Edler the clubs best all time defenceman who had a great year last year. 2 years at 6 mil Added #1 FA Defenceman available Tyler Myers who is RH for 5 yrs at 6mil Added #8 FA Defenceman on TSN Board Jordie Benn who plays both sides for 2 years at 2 mil Added Oskar Fantenberg a depth defenceman at 850K Let Hutton go instead of signing him to a 4.2 million qualifying offer. Looking at what was available. Understanding that nothing was given up for any of the FA's. Getting Benn and Edler for only 2 years. We are looking much better than last year with Gudbranson and Hutton. I also think the short terms and Tanev and Biega having only 1 year left, is good timing for Juolevi, Woo, Tryamkin, Rafferty, Brisebois, Rathbone and Sautner to come along. When I look at what was available and what was given up in terms of assets, term and cap space. I say job well done Jim! It is more balanced, bigger, better puck moving, and at not much cost. Edler Stecher Hughes Meyers Benn Tanev Fantenberg Biega 1 3
Analyst82
This is a very underrated signing. Always happy to add local guys to the team. He's big, physical and can pitch in every so often.
Kanukfanatic
Very interesting. Benn has much better plus/minus, hits, and blocks. Thanks for this info!

That is a much stronger dcorps than last year. Not world beating but add in Try, OJ and Woo / Rathbone in 1-2 years and it will be a very strong group. If Tanev can be the stay at home guy w Hughes, he will get injured a lot less (we will be controlling the puck so he won’t be blocking shots), and he’ll up his value. He’s always done well at the worlds with guys like that. Could be a very nice pair. But then JB won’t want to move him lol. RUPERTKBD
This is a solid depth signing at a very affordable price. Benn is the kind of physical presence that the 'Nucks need more of. I give JB props for this one.

Thanks, wanted exactly this. This forums setup is terrible. Bury the rumors, new threads for confirmed signings. Instead we get to sift through pages of people arguing about whether or not the signing will happen to find the relevant information and input on a new deal. Such a backwards, messy way to "organize" the most active NHL forum. 1
