I dont see us spending any more money today. we need to sign Brock and unless we move Loui or Sutter we wont have enough cap room to add more forwards

Very economical defence. 6M for Edler who's up in 2 years. 6M for Myers who may slow down near the end of his career like Edler. 4M for Tanev who's due a renewal. Hughes on an ELC which is due a massive raise the same time as Benn's cheap 2M contract expires.

JB has finally built a decent defence. Not sure if they'll score much, there's a lot of solid shutdown guys on that blueline but the hope is that Hughes and maybe even Juolevi can come in and rack up points.

Edler - Stecher

Hughes - Myers

Benn - Tanev

Nice top-6. Not much puck moving ability but good first passes and solid physical guys. Look at just about ever cup winner in the past - they all have one top D man and a bunch of solid shutdown cheap guys who play hard.

If healthier than last yr over 82 games, this yr they might make playoffs

That's the key, staying healthy.  They might have snuck in last year if they'd stayed healthy

I love these signings, especially the fact that we don't have expansion protectection for Myers.

We got much better defensively, bigger and harder to play against.

I still hope we can move some salary out and sign Anders Lee! We need another top 6forward.

PIT won a cup with a worse D then ours ...second cup arguably about the same, Letang isn’t what he used to be and Shultz did an admirable job their first cup but both Edler and Myers are probably better all around.

Point is it’s not impossible to win a cup without a Norris caliber guy or true number one.  Hopefully Hughes can be like Subban without the physicality...or even better a Housley or top point getter.

Its far from perfect (our defense) but it just got a whole lot better.  Nine points shouldn’t be hard to gain this year, twenty isn’t out of the question either.

Big upgrade from last year! Let's hope that 8.7 mill we have left isn't all for Boeser :). Good money for these two newbies too. With Edler coming off the books 21-22, looking good for those big money signings in Hughes and EP.

Last Season, we had 219 goals for, and 248 goals against.  We should be able to bring the goals for up with the personnel we brought in this summer, and that's just what we have right now.  We drop the goals against by 20 goals, we are more than enough to make up the pts needed to make a playoff spot last season.  We need 10 more wins, and with how close we were in our losses, this should be doable.

Although I was hoping to see a top 6 forward like Nyquist signed as well, the Luongo cap hit crushed that dream. The good news is that we got Myers for shorter term and cheaper then most predicted and when you weigh that into the equation it's a fantastic acquisition. We really needed another top 4 guy and Benning did not disappoint. We signed the best D man available and managed to do it on a team friendly contract, let's not forget how overpriced UFA signings usually are.

Hughes and Myers pairing is exciting to think about, we might actually finally have a defensive line that can put up points! When was the last time we were able to say that?

3x3M Luongo

2x1M Spooner

No way, LE and Sutter are gone that adds a top 6 forward and I think were a play off team this year and contending next

How are they gone ?

Aquaman won't buy them out lol

There are many options, buying them out is only one. They can trade, send Them down to Utica and in LE's case maybe force him to walk away from his deal which gives us cap space. Also I think buying Sutter out is an option maybe taken by Aqua man. What we do know is Aqua man wants to win so when push comes to shove he'll do whats best for the team winning going forward

I’d agree with that.  Plus three years from now all the guys will be in their early-mid prime.   Podz and probably Tryamkin ... and guys still in their RFA deals...then a short window with max cap followed by Miller and Horvat raises etc...not easy these days to have much of a window, TO just had their best shot slip away this year for example and despite a great team guys don’t seem to want to always stay in WNP.

Never really.  Jovo did pretty good especially considering the era.  Aucion had one monster year scoring like 23 goals mostly on the PP.  Lidster still has the record although two years of Rinehart wasn’t bad.  Lumme was decent and consistent.  Edler one year ...can see why your excited.  So am I.  Hughes will create Myers will crush the puck, and get his fair share too as he’s not too shabby either when it comes to passing.

Dont have that high expectations for Hughes first year, could take to acclimate to an 82 year season and the NHL in general...if he’s also a Calder candidate then we are in for one heck of a ride.

Last year we were five wins away from a playoff spot.  That’s it.  Ten wins would probably put us into the top 2 maybe 3 in our division..really that means if we were .500 during that losing streak (which also affected our GAA) we would have made the show.  That said the West lost points against the East last year, making it easier for teams to get in.   Ten wins would definitely get us there and more...we’d be around a 100 point team.   Think we just added 25-30 goals between getting better and our core taking steps. Which would put us close to 250...  can’t imagine what a year of Hughes, Myers and Benn will do instead of Poopoo, Guddy/Schenn and Hutton.  Guessing at least 25-30 goals less too.   Definitely puts us into the playoff hunt.
