The Comets get their first win of November and breaks a 4 game losing streak. Another solid game by DiPietro, stops 28 of 30 shots, 0.933 SV%. Kootenay Gold Posted November 12, 2019 Share Posted November 12, 2019 They are obviously missing Boucher and his goal scoring ability but this is where others in the lineup need to take the bull by the horns and take up the slack. Unfortunately Goldy seems to be more of a follower than a leader. If he is not able to crank it up when the team is under a bit of adversity; then his chances of ever playing again in the NHL are waning rapidly. A knuckle ball slapshot from beyond the blue line got past Mikey for the first goal then the second was a tick tack toe PP goal with two Crunch on both sides of the crease and not a Comet in sight. Overall the Comets did not play bad in this game, again, just could not bury the puck when afforded opportunities, even on two breakaways. IMO, Goldy's individual puck handling skills are dazzling at the AHL level. He can single handedly enter their zone through half an opposing team but then he either keeps it one move too many, usually because no one else around, or the pass is intercepted. He does not take many shots on net and just seems to wander around and not get into the scrap. As mentioned above, others need to step up because Boucher's production is lacking. The team also announced that they have reassigned defenseman Jalen Chatfield to the Comets. Graovac has appeared in six games with the Comets this season, scoring one goal. The forward has nine points in 62 career NHL games. MacEwen has eight points (3-5-8) in 13 games with Utica this year. The big forward made his NHL debut last season with Vancouver and has one assist in four career NHL games. Chatfield did not appear in a game with Vancouver during his stint. Used to be a good place to keep up on the latest. & of course this team with "NO CENTERS!" is now about 10 & 5. That in a town that finally got a Friggen team, could refurbish their rink, etc...
