Rick has to learn to leave the trolling and inciting of the fanbase to the experts.  They're quiet right now because they're scrambling to find a way to spin this negatively, but oh wait...

CanuckSmarmy, right on cue lol

:picard:

It's like they expect the Canucks to just sit on their asses and wait until 2021 to sign Pettersson before doing anything.

If it were up to some in the media and on HFBoards Canucks, the Canucks would just sit on their asses and do nothing forever.

Brock's deal isn't in jeopardy.

This is good news and no big deal. They can trade leivo and carry all the dead weight. Not that they will but why it’s important is other than trying to move Erickson, other GMs won’t have leverage on us to sweeten deals if we want to move Sutter or Tanev. Meaning, we can get real value (whatever that may be)

Misread IMO.

Circumstances around the team have improved (thanks to benning) giving Benning more leverage to sign more favourable FA terms and more assets with which to trade. It's really as simple as that.

That is true.  Where he has gotten the team to has helped put him in a favourable position.  That dynamic actually plays a lot into being in a position of power.  That should actually continue as we are likely to play not only a skilled game, but an intense gritty game too.  Players will want to be part of that which will be in JB's favour.

Boeser was recovering from a significant injury and you can't really gauge what he was/wasn't (fully) in consideration of that.  Takes awhile to regain the confidence that you won't get slammed.

There are goals where one guy knows where another's going to be/what he'll do - Petey and Brock are developing some of that.  Helps when there's also a friendship there...you're connected.

You may argue that Petey would/could've set up anything like this.  I think this is a direct result of their chemistry...and I expect more of it.

This is a nice highlight for sure.  Boeser scored some great goals off the deke last year.  He has a very quick release and a good pair of hands.  Standing around watching Petey do his all-world thing isn't utilizing Brock to his fullest potential.  I am not saying that it is impossible for them to grow and develop together into some amazing chemistry.  It is great that they are young, friends and experiencing all of these things together.  Thats all good.  I am purely talking about their playing styles.  They are currently not a fit.  Baertschi is the type of guy who can give passes, fish for pucks, and finish off almost any pass; but he doesn't have the play driving ability that a Boeser or Pettersson have.  Baertschi is a complimentary player.  Goldobin thought the game the same way that Pettersson did/does; so he got himself into the right places.  He just can't finish to save his life.  Boeser doesn't need a playmaking center.  He needs Hughes to pass him the puck and let him break into the zone and shoot off the deke.  That's his bread and butter.

Again, I am just talking about right now.  Over time Boeser will learn how to position himself for shots off a passes better.  Luke Robitaille and Brett Hull come to mind of the types of shooters that would play well with Petey.  They are the prototypical disappear and then reappear at the right time type of scorers.

Why is it that everyone finds any kind of criticism impossible to handle.  They are both great players just currently not a great fit.

It's really not that difficult.  Patrick Johnston and the others in the media could certainly take 2 minutes and learn to comprehend this stuff.

4 x 3.5 AAV...

Another BIG win for the city of Vancouver.

I was expecting 4 x 5

He clearly left money on the table like Benn and Myers did so they could play for this glorious province.

BEAUTIFUL BC STRIKES AGAIN.

I Heard  Calgary had offered him 5aav

He didn't take it cause he wants to punch mathew tkachuck in the face as many times as he can ha he will get many chances here to do that ha

Haha exactly.  Let's wait in some prime years to make it work in 2-3 years when Pettersson signs for 10 per season.  People must like chasing their tails...
