highwayman3
Happy with this signing. Much, much better than the Myers signing imo.

They're quiet right now because they're scrambling to find a way to spin this negatively, but oh wait... CanuckSmarmy, right on cue lol It's like they expect the Canucks to just sit on their asses and wait until 2021 to sign Pettersson before doing anything. If it were up to some in the media and on HFBoards Canucks, the Canucks would just sit on their asses and do nothing forever.

They can trade leivo and carry all the dead weight. Not that they will but why it’s important is other than trying to move Erickson, other GMs won’t have leverage on us to sweeten deals if we want to move Sutter or Tanev. Meaning, we can get real value (whatever that may be) Edited July 10, 2019 by 18W-40C-6W

Circumstances around the team have improved (thanks to benning) giving Benning more leverage to sign more favourable FA terms and more assets with which to trade. It's really as simple as that. That is true. Where he has gotten the team to has helped put him in a favourable position. That dynamic actually plays a lot into being in a position of power. That should actually continue as we are likely to play not only a skilled game, but an intense gritty game too. Players will want to be part of that which will be in JB's favour.
Popular Post Warhippy
Anyone want a laugh? Here are the gems from the Ferland Singing Thread from "the slow kids side of the fence" the top 10 wtf are you whining about now posts from your friends at HF 1. If that means Louie is on his way out, due to cap issue, what is that going to cost us.Another first round pick? 2. This off-season just gets better and better. Keep digging that hole Jimbo. 3. I for one, will be cheering on this runaway train as it tears down the tracks, on fire, heading for a crash. If we're going to go for it, might as well really go for it and sign a player of the type that we need 4. But Benning! Will be a reasonable excuse for roughly 10 years after he is fired. 5. Well who is worth enough on our team that you can get rid of the horrid contracts that need to be dumped in order to fit all this? Our next 2 1st are locked.Surely you dont think Hughes / Pettersson...? 6. Hahahahaha. This was so predictable. Months ago I said this idiot was going to waste money signing Myers and Ferland. He can't help himself. This team is so ****ed. Fire Benning. (this poster should be obvious) 7. Will likely be 10~+ million dollars combined on a bottom pairing d-man and a tweener winger. Benning thinks he's getting the Ferland that killed the Canucks in the playoffs. He's always years ****ing behind in every single transaction. 8. Just LOL. Such a joke of a franchise. We are at the point that the stupidity is the entertainment value. I am going to go buy an Eriksson jersey. 9. Lol.**** this. I’m off to bed for my “wonderfully refreshing” 6 hours of sleep.**** Ferland for not signing already. Cheers. And our top statement on HF forum today 10. Do the Canucks plan on trading Pettersson and Hughes for Lafrenière next year? https://hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/canucks-sign-f-micheal-ferland-to-a-4-year-3-5m-aav-deal.2666805/

Takes awhile to regain the confidence that you won't get slammed. There are goals where one guy knows where another's going to be/what he'll do - Petey and Brock are developing some of that. Helps when there's also a friendship there...you're connected. You may argue that Petey would/could've set up anything like this. I think this is a direct result of their chemistry...and I expect more of it. This is a nice highlight for sure. Boeser scored some great goals off the deke last year. He has a very quick release and a good pair of hands. Standing around watching Petey do his all-world thing isn't utilizing Brock to his fullest potential. I am not saying that it is impossible for them to grow and develop together into some amazing chemistry. It is great that they are young, friends and experiencing all of these things together. Thats all good. I am purely talking about their playing styles. They are currently not a fit. Baertschi is the type of guy who can give passes, fish for pucks, and finish off almost any pass; but he doesn't have the play driving ability that a Boeser or Pettersson have. Baertschi is a complimentary player. Goldobin thought the game the same way that Pettersson did/does; so he got himself into the right places. He just can't finish to save his life. Boeser doesn't need a playmaking center. He needs Hughes to pass him the puck and let him break into the zone and shoot off the deke. That's his bread and butter. Again, I am just talking about right now. Over time Boeser will learn how to position himself for shots off a passes better. Luke Robitaille and Brett Hull come to mind of the types of shooters that would play well with Petey. They are the prototypical disappear and then reappear at the right time type of scorers. Why is it that everyone finds any kind of criticism impossible to handle. They are both great players just currently not a great fit.
