JT Miller can pass. Did I say can pass or pass first? A little quick to pull the trigger on the squiggly face. Easily triggered eh? That he was passing too much and not getting the shots off himself?

He is an amazing passer with fantastic vision. Every line ideally has a guy who can distribute the puck. Baertschi can play that role on a line in the top 6. Pettersson could play with Miller and Ferlund or whomever. Pettersson can't play on four lines at the same time. Sometimes I think people on here don't take style into account at all when putting together a team. You don't just put three good players together and say they will work it out. You have to find complimentary pieces.

Say what you want but Vancouver is the crown jewel of North America. We'll never have any troubles attracted top end free agents at great contracts. The Loui days are a thing of the past. Holland can lure JB with a couple second round picks as sweetner!!! JB, well aware that CDC wasn't too thrilled with the first pick given up in the JT Miller trade, pushes the panic button! 1

You have to find complimentary pieces. I understand the point and I agree with it. That said, I think it's important to note that most of our top end guys....Petey, Boes, Bo....are pretty solid puck distributors themselves. Not elite set-up guys like Henrik was, but solid enough that we can experiment with different combinations and that we don't need to be hemmed into a position when we absolutely need an elite puck distributor on both our top 6 lines. We don't have any Laines on this team. Regardless, it's nice to have so many options. 1

Popular Post Petey Castiglione
Really excited to have a player who likes to hit and forecheck hard on every forward line. That's going to up the intensity of the whole team and wear down the opposition. Plus multiple guys willing to drop the gloves. Last time I was even close to being this excited for the season was when we added Malhotra and Torres and we all know where that took us. Can definitely see all these off season moves having the same effect. GO CANUCKS GO!!! 1
Popular Post SilentSam
Haven’t seen any interviews yet but pulled this from the TSN page.. With a crew of burgeoning stars like Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser, the Canucks have what it takes to draw awe from around the league, Ferland said. "You look at Vancouver and the players that they've got there and the guys that they're bringing in," he told reporters on a conference call. "I think that's the next step for Vancouver and I want to come over and see if I can help." Originally selected 133rd overall by Calgary at the 2010 draft, the six-foot-one, 217-pound forward played four seasons for the Flames before he and teammate Dougie Hamilton were dealt to the Hurricanes in a blockbuster trade last year for Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin. Ferland put up 40 points in 71 games for Carolina, just shy of the 21 goals and 20 assists he registered for the Flames in the 2017-18 campaign. "Micheal is an energetic player that drives the play and can contribute in all three zones," Canucks general manager Jim Benning said in a statement. "He'll make our team harder to play against on a nightly basis and we're excited that he'll call Vancouver home." A native of Swan River, Man., Ferland is known as a big body who will stand up for his teammates. "I've got a style that I play. I think when I'm at my best is when I'm physical," he said. "So I'm out there being physical, I get my body into it and it seems like the rest of my game comes in also." Ferland hopes to play a top-six role for the Canucks, and got the feeling that was a possibility after meeting with Benning and Canucks coach Travis Green. "Meeting with Benning, he told me I'd have a lot of opportunity to play with Pettersson, Boeser, the skilled guys that they have," Ferland said. "They need a bigger guy on their line, you know, give them some space and be able to play with them. "When I sat down and talked with my wife, I figured this would be the best opportunity for myself to grow and be able to play with those type of guys." 5
