-Vintage Canuck-
Quote It appears Julius Honka's days in Dallas could be numbered. According to Matthew DeFranks of the Dallas Morning News, the Stars are trying to trade the 23-year-old defenceman after adding Andrej Sekera to an already crowded blueline this summer. Honka is a restricted free agent this off-season after posting four assists in 29 games with the Stars last season. He spent the final 35 games of the regular season as a healthy scratch and did not dress in the postseason. DeFranks notes that if the Stars can't find a suitor for Honka they may be forced to keep eight defenceman on the 23-man roster, rather than risk losing him on waivers. Honka, who has two goals and 13 points in 87 career games with the Stars, was selected 14th in the 2014 NHL Draft. https://www.tsn.ca/report-dallas-stars-are-trying-to-trade-d-julius-honka-1.1336367
73 Percent
Would be nice to dump loui and grab Honka (other pieces involved obviously). But we have a full blueline right now.
sonoman
Didn’t Louie’s family move back to Dallas, just saying
theo5789
He was interesting a couple of years ago, but I think the ship has sailed for us here. Not sure if I would even trade Goldobin for him at this point. Maybe if they'll take Palmu.
KKnight
Van: Hanzal Honka Dallas: Eriksson ( maybe some retention) Mid tier prospect Pick of some sort mind you i dont think thats enough . just a thought. JM_
All we could pretty much do is trade Goldy for him. I'd take a chance on him for free on waivers for sure but he probably wouldn't make it to us.
Gaudette Celly
Would be nice to move Eriksson there, but they only have $1mil for a final contract this year and have $62mil in cap tied up next year in just 14 players, so they're unlikely to want to go that route.
Where's Wellwood
35 straight healthy scratches and didn't play in the playoffs after being taken 14th overall. I hope Juolevi can overcome his injury setbacks and be more than a Honka
Fanuck
Honka for Loui is obviously obvious right? I mean, Loui kills penalties and Honker is young RHD so it's an even trade right?
Popular Post 18W-40C-6W
Wasn’t Honka the apple of the eye for so many Canucks fans? Just goes to show, no one here can evaluate talent as much as they like to think they can. And the simple fact that not all first round picks turn into stars. People never seem to look around the league and temper expectations. If a Canucks first rounder flops, people complain about Benning etc, rather than realizing it’s more common to flop or be an adequate NHLer at best, vs being a star. This is actually why Benning and co deserve MORE credit, they seem to have been drafting higher probability hits in all rounds than most. If we can get him for scraps sure, but he’s a 23 yr old project. Likely AHL or Europe fodder at this stage. Schaller straight up might work. Dallas is going for it, Schaller could be good bottom 6 depth for them. Edited July 12, 2019 by 18W-40C-6W
cuporbust
No thanks. We just got rid of Pouliot, we don't need another . Edited July 12, 2019 by cuporbust 1 1

Lancaster
Wouldn't be a bad idea for the Canucks to take a flyer on him. He has very good AHL stats... so that could just mean he: wasn't in the best position to succeed, he is still "figuring things out", or worst case scenario... he's a Adam Clendenning-type player. Great AHL player, but borderline NHL player. If the Canucks can somehow package LE plus another middling prospect (eg. Goldobin) for Honka, I'd say go for it.
