read the post  go look at Roussel numbers and compare them to loui  ,  see what hustle does ,           loui 3 hits in 81 games with  a avg of 14 mins a game  that's not engaged in a game is it now

Led the team PK'ers in blocked shots percentage , led them in pk takeaways percentage, had fewest pk giveaways percentage.

Seems to me that he was honest when he said about his defensive role .......

The last two seasons I've played less and in a defensive role. I can't score as many points as I did before, when I'm not playing in the roles I did before. In that way, you can't really make comparisons, but I'll have to do my best and keep at it.

if he was such a defensive specialist how come he had 3 hits in 82 games  then?      82 games X 14 mins a games  and 3 hits    so no body contact in 79 games  he is like a ghost out there eh

Good grief!!

How many hits do you recall seeing by a forward on a PK?  Thus creating a 4 on 3 will soon get you taken off the PK.

All Motte's hits, for example, were on the forecheck - that's not LE's game.  He will use defensive awareness to strip a player of the puck, and initiate a breakaway (as he did for Petey's first ever NHL goal,  although that wasn't on the PK, but a 5 on 5)

I don't know why I bother. - 4 of you have now contributed over 500 posts in 9 threads on why you hate Loui..

invisible for games is the same as dragging his ass lol   see  your trying to defend his lazy ass , oh so loui didn't get benched then? ,  a vet that opened his mouth to the media , that is a veteran move to get traded .NO complaints about him  , where have you been for the last three years?    ya media that actually played the game  complained about his effort  , not just a reporter that has never laced the skates up ever   ,   I have been a fan for over 40 years   . a fan before loui was even born , so ive seen the worse of time  and the best of times , good players and really terrible players  ,     go look up Roussel stats and compare them to loui  ,   Roussel hustles out there  and look what he did  and he got third line minutes  so don't tell me  oh poor loui got third line minutes  ,   3 hits all year -11  =  lazy

Glad Loui isn't chasing players for hits, because that's not his game and it never was.

How many times has Roussel scored 20 goals in a season?

Loui isn't lazy he's pretty defensively aware.

If he was so lazy he would have been benched like 30 times like Goldie.

Also if Travis Green is a great coach why didn't he bench Gudbranson once?

If you think Loui has a long leash, the only way we didn't play Guddy was because he was traded.

You totally misrepresented what I stated and it wasn't even translated from Swedish. Not surprising though.

This is the pertinent part of the interview. The rest of the interview is about his family, the Sedins retiring, and Pettersson. It seems like many fans have only heard the media's slant on it. I don't think it is as bad as many are portraying it to be.

"Loui Eriksson left Boston three seasons ago. During his three seasons there he never scored less than 37 points per season. His new address became Vancouver. There, his production hasn't been as high. At best, he's scored 29 points, which happened this past season. It should also be noted that he's been plagued by injury and missed a few games.

- Of course Vancouver is a cool city to play in. Canada is known to like hockey and there are a lot of fans there, watching, men playing-wise it's been tough for me to come there, Loui Eriksson tells hockeysverige.se in an interview in Globen, right next to Nynäsvägen in Stockholm. The Lerum-raised forward continues on with a smile:

- I haven't been able to really find a role there, but it is, like I said, a pretty nice town to play in. Especially if the weather is nice, then it's an awesome town, but it rains quite a lot too.

Hasn't found a role

It's been a transition for him, moving from Boston to Vancouver.

- Yeah, it has been. As I said I haven't really found a role on the team. Primarily the last two seasons out of the three I've been there. I haven't really found my game, and in that way it's been tough.

Why's that?

- I don't know.... The last two seasons I've played less and in a defensive role. I can't score as many points as I did before, when I'm not playing in the roles I did before. In that way, you can't really make comparisons, but I'll have to do my best and keep at it.

- It's still fun to play, even if it's disappointing to not make the playoffs.

Scratched for a game

Loui Eriksson posted eleven goals and a total of 29 points on 81 games this past season. He was also scratched for a game by coach Travis Green.

- As I said, I've played a defensive role all season and I haven't had that much time on ice. Of course that's unfortunate [or "sad", "displeasing"].

- At the same time, there's not much I can do about it but to keep at it. At least my body feels good.

Has this season been a disappointment to you?

- Eh, I don't know. I was scratched for one game towards the end of the season. Me and the coach aren't fully on the same page [this is the "not a hundred" quote] and it's hard when I'm not shown the same level of confidence as all other coaches have shown during my career. Of course things are rough on that front.

- The only option for me is to keep at it. I feel like I'm still a good player in the league."

Like you said there's more to the game then hitting but last time I checked there's more to the game then PK..look around the league some of the best pker that play wing are forces 5 on 5 E Kane comes to mind so does Shaw and even tanner glass and the list goes on. If Loui was a center I wouldnt mind cause he plays a similar game to sutter or a slower Chris Kelly and hitting would take him out of the play but his a winger and brings next to nothing to the team.

Loui is overrated always has been his whole career. His never been a superstar but thinks he is. In Boston he played with Lucic and he had a lot more room and that whole line was crash the net style/greasy goals. His old and slow and has lost touch with reality.  wingers that play the game like Loui don't last or name acouple cause I'm all for being enlighten

Loui isn't lazy??? You realize cause of his D iq he can get away with being lazy right?...

also if the rumours are true Jim was working on a deal with the oilers why would you bench the guy your trying to sell?

If Green benched Gubby who was going to take his place?

Loui has a long leash cause last year we didn't have depth we needed and we were trying ship him. :picard:

No - I am in love with the truth, as borne out by facts.

I don't think he adds much value to the team as he currently plays/is utilized,  as there are cheaper and better options, but there is no need to use the hate-mongering language used here on a still - contributing member of the team.  Bring up his 3 year stats from NHL.com and look at what his commitment really is,  before you slag him as lazy and not commited

Hey, I will do it for you

Of forwards over that 3 year period who have played at least 100 games, to eliminate the Megnas, Vaneks and Gaunces of the team,

Eriksson:

Is 3rd in overall blocked shots (behind Horvat and Sutter)

Is 2nd in Takeaways (behind Virtanen)

Is 1st (tied) in giveaways - i.e. fewest (with Granlund)

Fewest PP goals against of the 4 regular homers (Eriksson, Sutter, Horvat, Granlund)

And hits. - your favorite stat: Eriksson was indeed last (with 21 in 3 years. - first was Virtanen with 327.  But Jake's 327 hits resulted in 101 takeaways, or roughly 1 puck changeover per 3 hits.  Louie's 21 hits resulted in 91 takeaways, suggesting that Loui is the much more effective hitter.)

You see, as the old saying goes "if you torture statics enough, they will confess to anything"

I lost track this pasted season how many times he was beat to pucks or not win a puck battle so yes his lazy.

Also no one said Loui was stupid, he has D iq going for him that's the only reason his still in the nhl and also thx to that D iq he knows where to be but that's it. His just like an enforcer good for one thing and that's it. Name another winger that plays the same way? I can't think of one.

oh and since your conveniently going to  use a 3 year  period of stats  for loui  of course his stats are going to be higher  since the roster has been turned over so much in 3 years  nice try tho
