Primal Optimist
As expected Sampo is turning heads! Nico is quietly going about his business as a stalwart defender, continues to trend towards a top four minute muncher Swiss Army Blueliner. haha. Happy to have both on their ELC's for next year! The Nashville Predators instead send down Devin Shore to make room for the Sonny Milano call-up. Popular Post Nail
CDCFL 2019-20 Annual Questionnaire Results Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll! We had a total of 29 responses, but some questions were responded with "No Preference", and those will not affect the 80% threshold. Here are the results: Question 1: Should we reduce the value of goalie shutouts from 10 points to 5? Currently, if a goalie were to get a win/shutout, they would receive 20 points, equivalent to a skater getting 5 even-strength points. RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 8 / 29 NO - 17 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 4 / 29 TOTAL - 8 / 25 = 32% WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED Question 2: Should we overhaul the waiver eligibility requirements? This is to emulate real life more, and have better players/prospects appear on the waiver wire earlier. If approved, it would become as followed (Note: If this question and the callup question are both approved, we will only pick one to implement): RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 22 / 29 NO - 5 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 2 / 29 TOTAL - 22 / 27 = 81.5% WILL BE IMPLEMENTED Question 3: Should we implement a call up / send down rule in which teams are only allowed to make three (3) non-injury related callups per month (Note: If this question and the waivers question are both approved, we will only pick one to implement)? RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 12 / 29 NO - 15 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 2 / 29 TOTAL - 12 / 27 = 44.4% WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED Question 4: Should we revamp the offersheet compensation in order to favour the offersheeted team more? Currently, there is little to none incentive to let RFAs hit the market as compensation for them is not very good. If approved, it would become as followed: RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 23 / 29 NO - 5 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 1 / 29 TOTAL - 23 / 28 = 82.1% WILL BE IMPLEMENTED Question 5: Should we bump up the ELC slide limit to 5 players instead of 3? This would allow teams to now have 5 players whose contracts will slide at the end of the year. RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 15 / 29 NO - 11 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 3 / 29 TOTAL - 15 / 26 = 57.7% WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED Question 6: Should we implement a ELC slide age restriction? If accepted, only players 20 years of age or younger (at the time of them being designated for the slide) will be eligible to have their contracts slide. RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 20 / 29 NO - 5 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 4 / 29 TOTAL - 20 / 25 = 80.0% WILL BE IMPLEMENTED Question 7: Should we add a 6th Round to our Entry Draft? This would allow for more prospects to get drafted, and could give teams an additional trade asset as well. RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 16 / 29 NO - 11 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 2 / 29 TOTAL - 16 / 27 = 59.3% WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED Question 8: Should we allow teams to hold the unsigned prospect rights to European and Collegiate prospects for 4 years as opposed to 2? This would prevent teams from using one of their 50 contract slots on players that aren't playing pro hockey in North America yet. RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 18 / 29 NO - 8 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 3 / 29 TOTAL - 18 / 26 = 69.2% WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED Question 9: Should we implement a rule stating that players can only be signed if they are under the property of an NHL team? This would prevent teams from loading up on acquiring European / College talent in hopes of them signing in the NHL. RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 10 / 29 NO - 17 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 2 / 29 TOTAL - 10 / 27 = 37.0% WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED Question 10: Should we implement a 2 year maximum in which salary can be retained? This would mean teams do not get hampered by long term retaining commitments, some in which were made by previous GMs who are no longer in the game. RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 14 / 29 NO - 13 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 2 / 29 TOTAL - 14 / 27 = 51.9% WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED Question 11: Should we allow all teams to receive one compliance buyout in the 2020 offseason? This buyout would allow teams to get out of any one contract prior to the Seattle expansion draft, and at the same time make our 2020 free agency pool a lot deeper. Note: If approved, the compliance buyout would need to be completed before the start of free agency. RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 20 / 29 NO - 7 / 29 NO PREFERENCE - 2 / 29 TOTAL - 20 / 27 = 74.1% WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED Question 12: Finally, this question is optional and completely anonymous. Just want to get a feel for how many people may be interested in taking over Seattle. I will likely be opening up applications very soon, and I am leaning towards giving the position to the GM interested who's been with their current team the longest. Would you be interested in GMing Seattle? RESULTS - Spoiler YES - 15 / 29 NO - 14 / 29 TOTAL - 15 / 29 = 51.7% GOOD FOR NAIL TO KNOW! ------------------------------------------------------------ Conclusion: Spoiler The following rule changes will be going through: 1) Waiver eligibility will now be as followed, in effect for the 2020-21 season: 150 Games of Eligibility for skaters 22 years of age or younger. 100 Games of Eligibility for skaters 24 years of age or younger. 50 Games of Eligibility for skaters 26 years of age or younger. 80 Games of Eligibility for goalies 22 years of age or younger. 65 Games of Eligibility for goalies 24 years of age or younger. 30 Games of Eligibility for goalies 26 years of age or younger. 2) Offersheet compensation will now be as followed, in effect for the 2019-20 offseason: Cap Hit: Compensation 1M or lower: Nothing 1.01M to 2M: 3rd Round Pick 2.01M to 3.5M: 2nd Round Pick 3.51M to 4.5M: 1st Round Pick + 3rd Round Pick 4.51M to 6M: 1st Round Pick + 2nd Round Pick + 3rd Round Pick 6.01M to 8M: Two 1st Round Picks + 2nd Round Pick + 3rd Round Pick 8.01M or higher: Four 1st Round Picks 3) Only players aged 20 or younger will be eligible for the ELC slide, in effect for the 2020-21 season. Once again, thank you to all for your participation! Few more questions to ask, open to thread discussion: 1) How would everyone feel to signing their names on any future questionnaires? Didn't really see any malicious comments ( ) and it may actually serve me better to know who's submitting what. 2) 80% threshold, is it too high? Too low? Just right? I would love to know what others think! Sidenote: Saw a couple comments suggesting a potential move to Fantrax, I'm super happy with where we're at on Pickup/Sheets so we will be sticking with those for the forseeable future! 1 2 3

Think it also gives a good indication of, if the league ever becomes more complex and in need of more volunteers, it can serve as a good indicator of who may have the time and knowledge to handle more. 3 hours ago, Nail said: 2) 80% threshold, is it too high? Too low? Just right? I would love to know what others think! At this time, I like it being relatively high at 80%. As shown in last years questionnaire and this year’s, there are rule changes, so things do improve. However, too much change and growing too fast is not smart, either. Also, just because some of the above proposed rule changes didn’t go through this year, doesn’t mean they won’t ever. Just that the time may not (or may never) be right. Load management. 3 hours ago, Nail said: Sidenote: Saw a couple comments suggesting a potential move to Fantrax, I'm super happy with where we're at on Pickup/Sheets so we will be sticking with those for the forseeable future! Didn't really see any malicious comments ( ) and it may actually serve me better to know who's submitting what. i don't see an issue with this. Maybe allow GM's to have the option to include their name. In the survey. 2) 80% threshold, is it too high? Too low? Just right? I would love to know what others think! Meh it's fine. 75% maybe would be an improvement but I don't think it is a big deal unless alterations are often falling short by a few percentage points. Sidenote: Saw a couple comments suggesting a potential move to Fantrax, I'm super happy with where we're at on Pickup/Sheets so we will be sticking with those for the forseeable future! Praise the Lord. I strongly dislike fantrax.
