explain?

It's Political Skullduggery 101. If you have damaging stuff on your opponent you you save it until 7-10 days before the election for maximum effect. And then you drip it out one by one. Example, first Trudeau pic comes out 10 days before election. Trudeau apologizes/makes excuses. Then you release another one nullifying his apology and putting him back on the defensive. Then you release the third one as a potential nail in the coffin.

So unless they have more dirt it was kinda silly just tossing it all out there in one day so far ahead of the election. Mr Scheer gets a D in Political Skullduggery 101.

The most amazing takeaway from this is the American response in any comment section

They're simply amazed he apologized and that he did it with legible sentences.

How low is the bar in the US these days?

Suprised they really even care about our politics

I think Scheer did this now because on Sep. 18th according to 338 (http://338canada.com) the Liberals took the lead at 35% to the CPCs 34%. Scheer needed to stop Trudeau from gaining any more ground.

But the timing was dumb. There's time for Trudeau to recover somewhat. Not saying he will be there's time for it.

It makes total sense.  One racist (Sheer) is promoting his opponent's (Trudeau's) racism to deflect attention from his own.  Nice political system.

thats why I think this may come back to hurt Scheer a little bit. His presser last night was pure insincere theatre.

Canadians love an apology and Trudeau is taking the full weight of it, short of quitting (which would be stupid). He's coming across as truly sorry for it, not just sorry for being caught. And its bringing his actual track record in to the spotlight which up to now has been very good on these issues. He has a chance at being forgiven and surviving this, whereas Scheer looks to be setting himself up for another dull thud.

Wouldn't be surprised if JT comes out actually smelling rosier on the other side of this, as he'll be able to actually highlight and focus on all the good things he's done/said for minorities (despite this pretty benign slip up/poor judgement) and continue to press Scheer on his and his parties at best iffy, and at worst damning, record.

This could MASSIVELY backfire for the Cons.

libreal leaked a video of him in 2005 , he has every right to to do this

Conservatives used a photo of him crying at his father's funeral in 2015.  They're using it again.

I'll 100% stand behind a guy who is apologizing for being stupid as opposed to a guy with a clear voting records and history of intolerance.

Not that I'm voting for either of them but picking the least disgusting turd is important

Overanalysis time...

Conservatives aren't looking to sway votes to themselves but just bleed votes from Liberals. Which still would benefit Conservatives.

Nah.......that's too deep

I was joking about it earlier but...Trudeau could maybe away some Bernier votes to him with this....:bigblush:

not so sure... Scheer has overplayed his hand a couple of times already particularly on SNC. If Trudeau is  forgiven for the most part it just makes Scheer look stupid.

right, kinda my point. He doesn't care about getting votes. He just wants to make sure JT doesn't.

oh for sure, but you also can be easily ignored if you rush to the 'he should resign' yap all the time, which Scheer does. How many times has Scheer said that now to a collective yawn?

Somehow Scheer is going to manage to not be able to capitalize on this one too.

People want to forgive JT.  They naturally want him, because of his good looks, to lead.  It's either JT, who looks the part, or Scheer.  People will forgive JT and vote in a Liberal majority.  If JT were not so attractive, we would naturally want to vilify him.  That's why Scheer is not so easily forgiven for past transgressions.  We intrinsically don't think he looks the leader.
