So as a middle aged white dude with very little experience on the receiving end of racism I don't know quite what to do with this. Do I take Singh at face value? Is this really that bad? Is he making the most of this? I honestly don't know what to do with it.

Point and laugh.

I'd probably have peed my pants laughing. I'd be thinking Scheer has no respect for people of colour along with a dislike of LGBTQ+ people.

This isn't an excuse, but there is a difference here. Trudeau was a fricking idiot to have done this, but his behaviour since has been pretty far from racist. Thats just a fact. Scheer on the other hand has views of intolerance, that he says he wont act on if he's PM. Thats a big difference.

That's kind of an important distinction yup.

Dressing up and apologizing is one thing

Making these statements and living this life but merely saying well, i'm not allowed to do anything because i want the job is kinda different.

I don't see anything wrong  with how JT dressed up for a Gala or whatever it was in 2001. heck he wasn't our PM then and my gosh it was a costume, he was not making fun of anyone.   some people need to get over themselves and stop being so butt hurt!

yeah it doesn't sit right with me that Scheer would change marriage laws if he could. But thats his issue.

On this topic we need to judge Trudeau without whataboutismisms, on its own merits.

Canada really needs a viable 3rd party ... this would move both Cons and Libs more towards the centre.... where most CDN voters probably are.

the problem is in the system.

when the NDP showed strength, the Conservatives won

when the Conservatives and Reform were strong the Liberals won.

Trudeau's getting hammered right now because he's the current leader. They're going to be extrra tough on him, but I thought he delivered a good message, owning up to his mistakes, basically calling himself a dumba**. Do people forget what the 90s and turn of the millenium was like? It was a politically incorrect time. It wasn't right, but that's the way it was. We as a society have come a long way since, but we're not there yet. I'll bet this Trudeau news leak was better than Viagra for Scheer lol

Trudeau caught blackfacing 3x and his supporters are still defending him :picard:. Dude is clearly racist.  I bet some would still defend him if he showed up at the next debate wearing a Nazi or slave-trader outfit(if he showed up at all)

What exactly is a slave trader outfit? Dressing like a white guy from the 16th to 19th centuries?

I am a visible minority. I couldn't give less of a frack about these photos. Not a huge Trudeau fan, but this is a nothingburger.

Dude ain't clearly racist. A costume doesn't make someone racist, their actions do. You think his actions have proven him to be a racist? Get real.

So you’d be okay going somewhere with a bunch of white folks painting their faces to look like yours and acting normal?
