I think Shawshank is the only 'top 10' movie I've seen.  Not sure what the criteria is but Goodfellas is my favorite.

Its visually beautiful, but the story itself is a snooze fest.

I've never watched it. so I'll say no it's not. for whatever reason most things that are considered great by critics or the masses, I think are ok at best.

Probably not the greatest of all time. That's a bit hard to quantify. Might not even be Welles' best. However, still a masterpiece. I know influence doesn't equate to a good film, but it had a such a great impact on many movies that came after it. I feel the 'greatest' tag causes people to go into it with too high expectations and get disappointed. I assumed it would be terrible after all the hype and ended up loving it. I like those movies that are all great plot, dialogue, performances, and camera work though.

Dr. Strangelove, as I've already mentioned, is my favorite film. 

 

There Will Be Blood is a modern classic I'd say trumps Citizen Kane.

 

I'm a massive fan of Some Like It Hot, The Odd Couple, It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World, A Shot In The Dark...I'm a huge sucker for older comedies. 

 

The Goonies is probably my favourite childhood film, as well as Empire Strikes Back & Flight of the Navigator
