cuporbust
Hey guys . Not sure what these guys are drinking over at the athletic, but they are not exactly projecting the Canucks to make a step forward this season. Thoughts ? Where's Wellwood
I also don't see the Rangers being that bad.

justathought
They don't pay any attention to the team, have no idea on what's transpired and are phoning in the prediction. Bottom rack source...

Popular Post Fanuck
Like Bergevin said earlier in the week - this probably came from somebody's basement in Toronto. 3 8
goalie13
I love it. I would rather outperform expectations than fall short of them. 1

HerrDrFunk
Each year there's always a team that exceeds everyone's expectations. I think this is the Canucks' year.
Popular Post ItTakesAnArmy
It seems the predictions from two years ago were ridiculed for 8 or 9 pages but eventually were proven fairly accurate. There are always exceptions who knows for sure maybe Pettersson gets 120 points and Boeser scores 60+ goals, maybe Sutter lights up the lamp for 30+ or Schaller pots 25+, anything can happen heck even Tanev and Edler could play the whole season and both achieve 55 points. The shown estimate of the standings have a cluster of teams around the 26 mark so a margin of error might be +/- 4 spots, 22 to 30th with the curve closer to the 22 spot. Still not enough improvement overall though. The StLouis comment, remember they were a top team that had a bad 2 1/2 months, really bad time and after January they caught on fire, but they were a really good team that were really bad for a very short period of time. Oh ya, those predictions from two years ago came true, so did the years before and after. 1
Popular Post Run n Gun
For the past 4 years... The media have had low projections for the Nucks. Followed by outrage from these very message boards.... yet the Nucks have continually proven that they are a bottom feeding team. Will this year be different? I sure hope so... but I can also see why projections for the team are all over the place for this year. Let's not get our panties in a bunch, folks. 1 1 1 1
Popular Post xereau
I predict that the Athletic's writers all need to learn to code by the end of 2020. Edited October 2, 2019 by xereau 10 1

I think our team is a playoff group, and that should be the expectation. Carolina will seriously fall in the east, and not make the playoffs. In the west Nashville, Vegas, San Jose, and Calgary will fall. We are a top 10 (in the league) team. That's the expectation. 1

We are a playoff team, and that's clear to those who closely follow our club. Oh, Leafs are in the dumper.

Popular Post King Heffy
Horrible list. Carolina and Calgary both severely overrated, and Winnipeg is a bottom three team with their blueline losses. Toronto has absolutely zero chance of winning a playoff round, let alone a cup with their AHL d and 10 ply forward group. They need to start drug testing at the Athletic. 1 2

My original comment just pointed to how silly these message board reactions are to predictions made by the media... mostly from people who are offended that the Nucks are always ranked so low - like our team can do not wrong. Even Benning commenting one year about how he couldn't wait for the season to start to prove everybody wrong... we all know how that season played out. Anyway, I think we're a bubble playoff team - not a grand prediction - it's pretty in line with most of the opinions around the city. Will the playoff race be like last year where it was mostly because most other teams sucked, or will it be a true playoff race where the all the teams are really good? That will play into if the Nucks make it this year or not... and the fact that our goaltending has to be top notch, of course.
