Popular Post DownUndaCanuck Posted October 10, 2019 Popular Post Share Posted October 10, 2019 Got to take this one with a grain of salt - we were hyped up with the home opener, Bo becoming captain and the Kings are playing in the second of a back to back after an exhausting game in Calgary. Regardless, everyone played well. Top line were buzzing, Miller brings a safe approach to the game and was the best Canuck out there, he's worth the 1st rounder. Boeser needs to find his shot which I'm sure he will but looks like he's slowly shaking off the rust. Horvat was a beast tonight, one man wrecking ball by himself making chances out of nothing and forechecking hard, beautiful assist on the Leivo goal. Pearson had a good game, great PK but I think Leivo (apart from his goal) didn't generate much, would much rather see Baertschi in his place although Leivo did well on the PK at times too. Gaudette and Sutter had a strong game, Gaudette not as prolific as he was in the pre-season but has really freed up some space for Sutter to play freely. I've always said we can't be trading Sutter and today's game is an example of why not, he's a gun on the PK, good leader for some of the kids and pots a couple of different goals for us. One of our most versatile players. The 4th line were alright at times, nothing flashy but they all earned their keep on the PK tonight. Only two disappointments were really Ferland who has given us almost nothing, and Virtanen who had a couple of flashes but not much else. Ferland may take a bit of time to get used to the team and I'm sure he's going to get bumped around the roster but we have to be patient with him, he's going to become a whipping boy soon enough if he doesn't start producing. On defence everyone played brilliantly. You can see the way the new NHL is going and that's offence from all your defencemen, which is the only reason we piled it on today. Quinn was outstanding, defensively only a couple of hiccups but he covered them up so well with his speed. He and Tanev make a great pairing. I thought Tanev has regressed a bit to start the season which is understandable defensively but not by very much and a beautiful job between the two to score quite a big goal to open up the game. Edler and Myers were outstanding too, Edler with a pretty bomb that a lot of the blueliners can learn from if they just let fly every now and then. Myers with some good physical play, the two of them neutralized the Kings forwards nicely behind the net. Benn and Stecher had a nice quiet game which is what we want from them, nothing over the top of flashy at all. Obviously Markstrom had a fantastic game so good to see he's got his mojo back, stopping lots of high quality chances. On the whole, great game by everyone really and good to see we can make Vancouver a hard place to play in if we keep this up. 1 7 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Odd. Posted October 10, 2019 Share Posted October 10, 2019 Also might add Ferland after being briefly benched had a couple of strong shifts. Hopefully that little benching he had in the third is kind of a wake-up call. Ferland doesn't seem to be playing at 100. Hoping he plays like his normal self soon.
