ANOTHER cop charged with murder after killing a woman in her own home.

Nah, it’s not THAT police involved murder from a few months ago. It happened again.

This is why we have a major issue with police in America. The only silver lining is that this incident was so brazen, even other cops want to distance themselves from it.

What happened to identifying oneself as a police officer?  What about not immediately resorting to shooting the person.   How many of these shootings is the gun fired within seconds?  Even Rober Dziekański was tasered to death within a minute of the RCMP officers first interaction with him.  Shoot first is the standard I guess.

To think this could have all been prevented by the statement, "its the police, is anyone home!"

I have looked into many of these shootings, and many have been misunderstood. This one looks like negligence, and I hope results in some type of murder charges on top of losing his job.

It's no doubt that cops want to distance themselves on this, this guy is a dumbass.

This killing is in a large part a result of the gun culture in the US.

There are so many guns around that Cops are paranoid of being shot anytime they are on a call.

Everyone has guns, everyone grabs one when they are angry/afraid... so Cops are on a hair trigger.

No excusing what the Cop did, he should have knocked on the door first... called out, and the at the window identified himself first.

But until the gun situation gets under control and they reduce the amount of them out there, this will continue.

You said it man, its the gun culture.

Just another reason to be thankful that we live in Canada and hope we can continue to distance ourselves from US culture as much as possible.

Police probably have the toughest job in ALL of society, and almost everyone hates them.

You are going to get a few deranged crazy people join up, just because they like this.

But what is far more likely, is the INSANE stress of the job pushes people into the mindset you see in that video.

Police should have to go to school for 8 years (yep, a Master's Degree), and they should be among the best paid public servants.

Alas, this is likely moot anyhow, for robots will have taken all their spots soon anyhow.

Agreed.

I read this story a few days ago and the way the described it, the cop "felt a threat". (paraphrasing) Who knows what it was that he felt, or saw that caused him to use deadly force? Apparently the woman was playing video games with her nephew. Did the cop see the controller and think it was a weapon? Were the two playing something like GTA or a FPS?

Whatever the reason, it's clear that far too many of these situations take place because of trigger happy cops. Are they out to kill someone? I doubt it. Is there a problem with the society in which they live which has them resorting to shooting first and asking questions later? You bet.

This is more accurate.

There's like over 2 million gun owners in Canada... but the police aren't paranoid about being blown away when ringing the door.

I don't think the Swiss cops were worried either.

Whereas in the US... for some reason violence is prevalence.  I'd swear it's something in the water... the lead pipes or something.

Why was a police officer doing a check on someone?  Shouldn't that be the landlord (neighbor) knocking on the door?   What's going on in that apartment that the police are called to check in on someone?  It was like the officer was scared out of his wits for some reason.  Lack of training?  Not having back-up?  Why was his gun even drawn?
