CRAZY_4_NAZZY
Man this trade for the Penguins started off with Signing David Perron in 2015. Traded him and Clendenning for Carl Hagelin in 2016 (won two cups with Hags). Which lead to Tanner Pearson. Leading to Erik Gudbranson and now to Andreas Martinsen (NHL journeyman) and a 7th round pick. Man that trade values kept going down... But if you thought that was bad Now....just imagine if Luca Sbisa wasn't claimed by the Jets. Sbisa, Gudbranson, and Michael Del Zotto as your top 8 dman. Just let that sink in for a bit.

PhillipBlunt
Amazed at how Benning didn't have to retain a cent of salary on Guddy's contract. 2

Both have been equally confounding in their own end, but Gudbranson is far, far more intimidating than Sbisa could ever hope to be. To add to that, as bad as everyone thinks Guddy is, he's still a far more tradeable player than Jack Johnson will ever be. Pittsburgh is stuck with that guy. But if it started with signing a guy for free. It doesn't really matter how it ended as it cost no asset (aside from money) to acquire in the first place. Penguins also won 2 Stanley Cups in that time span. I doubt they're crying over this one.

Popular Post theo5789
Remember when Guddy said he liked the Pens system more? I guess their system didn't like him.
SergioMomesso
I wonder what Guddy will say about his short crappy stint in Pitt? He sure had a lot to say about the difference in coaching and desire to win in Vancouver. Three teams in less than 7 months is not because your a wanted man. 1 1
Popular Post Qwags
These Ducks couldn’t make room for Luke Schenn in their lineup but are open to paying Gudbranson his $4m a year for two years. 3 1

kanucks25
But but... defensemen take longer to develop!! And what about that 7-game playoff sample size?!!! We just need to find a D-man like Campbell to carry play with him!! etc!!! 1

Well aside from the difference in price tags, I would take Sbisa any day over Gudbranson to help my team toughness. If you watched Sbisa play, and heard his team mates and opponents talk about him, they always said he was the toughest guy to play against. He was always leaning on you, jabbing, and giving shots after whistles... generally making your life miserable every shift. Gudbransn would have a few fights a year, but otherwise you rarely saw him engage with guys. He saw himself as a heavyweight so his code was only to fight other heavyweights... not do things like making McDavid wish he never stepped foot in our zone with the puck.
