Gaudette & Virtanen are quite different in their style of play. They both have some nice attributes, & extra incentive to climb the roster. With today's lineup, you can switch them at times. Good to see these young guys given some prime opportunities.

Not gonna worry about the Baer matter, at this early point in season. Just hope we can deal a coupla' fwds this yr, for extra picks & cap.

I don't think the Q is Gaud-Baer any more , itsBaer- Loui.

What I could see working is baer on Bo's line and Pearson or Leivo on Beagle's line.

I am just not sure if those moves make us a better team

It makes Beagle's line better, but not sure it helps Bo

Agreed.

to clarify: imo, we see that G has been moved to the wing in the top 6 which  creates “competion” to some degree when considering players who rotate in and out of the lineup.

Definitely Aquilini paid off the schedule maker.

SOS has the Canucks leading the league in "easy", it is not even close.

Again, for this game, not only did Chicago have to fly home but from San Jose which means their travel was even harder than the Canucks, both teams played on the same night. So this is not like Chicago is any more rested than the Nucks, if anything they be more tired.

The advantage should be the Canucks again.

Depending upon Chicago's goalie starting the Canucks have the advantage.

You know the distance from Vancouver to Chicago is about the same as the distance from San Jose to Chicago?

why is Gaudette on a line with Horvat and not Virtanen,  Jake has been playing better than  Adam, imo , but I could be wrong , but I don't think Adam is ready for playing with Horvat

Probably because Horvat's line is being utilized more in offensive situations which helps shelter Gaudette more and puts him in a position to maximize his offense. Believe it or not, Green likely trusts Virtanen in a more defensive situation alongside Sutter and to generate offense with his speed hopefully through turnovers. Horvat is used in all situations, but his 5 on 5 line likely doesn't take too many of the hard shifts.

Blunt, correct.

When a team is on the rise, old allegiances don't matter. Green owes it to this group to ice the lineup that he feels has the best chance to win, no other considerations needed.

Icing the best lineup is in a way why I think Baer should come into the fold.

The middle 6 have been changing almost every game with BO again seeing many line mates. Adding Baer in the lineup and on Bo's line that has a proven past, not detrimental and could prove to be a solid move to give the team a more balance attack in the middle six and stabilize things a bit.

Sitting Loui and moving one of the middle 6 wingers to the fourth line would be a minor change that could help out Bo's line and still not really harm the 4th line (might even improve it)

There's nothing wrong with tinkering with the lineup when a team is playing well if you think it improves a couple areas.

They only have 12 games left before he is waiver eligible.  Once Motte, Ferland and Roussel are back he is at risk of being in and out of the lineup.  If they've used up those 12 games - they can't send him to the AHL without exposing him to waivers.

When players return and if Gaudette is the odd man out, those 12 games could be stretched out over several months. And because of that, the team could either have him up or send him down for "conditioning" and game time and be the first call up should injuries mount again.

When Motte returns, likely LE sits. Not sure how long Ferland is going to be out for, but he would take Gaudette's spot. When Roussel returns, things get tricky, but maybe a trade will be made or more injuries arise by that time.

Whatever the case, Gaudette earned his spot out of camp and if he continues to prove his worth at the NHL level, then that's where he's going to stay regardless of those 12 games of waiver eligibility left.

They shouldn't have called him up.  They could have called up a prospect for the experience and the extra cash.  They need to find a way to move his contract and it's not by sitting him that they will achieve that.

Benning said he was going to call up Baertschi when injuries happened. He kept to his word. He didn't say he would draw into the lineup, but giving respect to him as a player and it looks like Sven is happy to be back up and not complaining about being a healthy scratch. He's likely going to be sent back down when the team gets healthy again.
