And I'm thinking that Gaudette learned from the experience and can only grow from it. Sitting him would be counterproductive, as he's a player that is important for the future of the team, where as Baertschi is most likely on his way out.

Baer is also out because he apparently is shy of contact. Not sure how that would play out vs the Blues.

Gaud over Baer all day er day

I don't think the Q is Gaud-Baer any more , itsBaer- Loui.

What I could see working is baer on Bo's line and Pearson or Leivo on Beagle's line.

I am just not sure if those moves make us a better team

It makes Beagle's line better, but not sure it helps Bo

Yeah. The post was referring to Virtanen.

Baertchi was a placeholder until we got guys like Petey and Boes, so was Goldy. They(Goldy,Baert) are only replacements at this point. People complain about Pearson, Leivo and the like , but they are there for completely different reasons. Size and toughness in the line up is part of the reason we are successful this year and I would argue why we have less injuries too. Look what Miller has done for Petey and Boes, not sure Goldy or Baert could do the same.

Yes once Roussel returns, a player in the line up will move to the press box and Loui will go down to the minors.

Spot on, imo. Baertschi is the qualty and caliber depth we need in a call up. It's just indicative of how we've gotten better on the big club. He'll keep us stable without being a liability.

I thought you said Baer , and I threw Virtanen in there because he is now scoring at the rate Baer did last year.

Virt has been much maligned while Baer gets the Underdog treatment.

I'd rather Virtanen going forward

He's probably one concussion away from retirement. The Blues would have given him no quarter.

Without a doubt.

Baertschi earns the same in the AHL.  He's on a one-way deal.  He actually makes more money in the AHL because there is no escrow there.

Leaving him in the AHL shows that he is too good for the league and might draw interest from other teams.  Teams out east often have management at the games.

Good point about the money...forgot about that

Still, he deserves the call up

Virtanen is suits this type of team much better and will be an asset in the playoffs. Baertschi, not so much.

Why does he deserve the call-up?

He wasn't in the AHL.  It's just as physical down there and probably even more dangerous.  The game is more choppy.

They need a guy....he is playing well

Why not?

There are younger players who could use the boost of salary and experience of travelling with the big team.

I'm thinking that the NHL is still a far more physical league.

It doesn't help the Canucks to find a trade partner.  It also hurts his career to be sitting - shows other teams that there is doubt that he can still play.

Don't think so.  Lots of guys who just go by physicality in the AHL.

I can see your point....but just because he is sitting out on a very good team, does not mean he does not have value to a weaker team

I mean, Miller was playing 3rd line in Tampa...……..hard to believe that, heh?
