(Rumour) Barrie on the move?

barrie gets 2.75 from the leafs

ferland gets 3.5 from the nucks and has a nmc

stectcher gets 2.3 from the nucks

so laffs are taking on an additional 3 million - how exactly

and ferland is not moveable, so there is that too

laffs cannot even fit a 23 player roster under the cap presently

so this one is not going to happen

Would we do Stecher straight across for Barrie?  Barrie is on the expiring deal, but has serious offence.  Stecher is a hard working character guy, who isn’t costing too much.

i see nothing wrong with stetch

a solid 3rd line dman who can move up the ladder

solid all round game

and is on a decent contract

exactly what is barrie going to bring other then unrealized potential

and an easy walk to ufa at season's end

cannot waste assets, nucks have to be very careful about future cap issues

stetcher is well slotted on this team

barrie would not be

Nope.  Stecher can play defense.

True, but Barrie is a proven 50 plus point PP guy.  Couldn’t he play with Benn 5 on 5, and be on PP two for Edler?  That could lower

eddie’s minutes too.  I really like Stecher’s effort though, and Barrie is only a rental.

I don't care how many points you put up, if you're a complete liability in your own end you shouldn't be playing D in the NHL.  Barrie's incompetence in the defensive zone is completely unacceptable and realistically I'd rather see one of the Utica guys called up than ice a defenseman who can't play defense.  Regardless of who you put Barrie with to babysit him, the team is better off without him.

Why would we take on Toronto's rental mess for players under contract even if Toronto had the cap space to make this work? They're in cap hell.

This team doesn't need Barrie, it needs to get healthy.

I’m really surprised Barrie hasn’t produced on such a good team. Guess there’s not much left after Morgan Rielly gets all the first reps. This Toronto stint will bring down his UFA offers.

The Leafs aren't that good to be honest.  Buttery soft forward group and Muzzin is the only D who plays like an NHLer in his own zone  The best case scenario for them is they make the playoffs and get smoked in the first round again.  Rielly's play style also creates a culture where it's acceptable to play like absolute trash in your own end with zero accountability.

This is exactly my thought as well.

Edit: a poster on hfleafs even mentions stecher.
