Popular Post King Heffy
Yuck. The guy's an absolute tire fire in his own zone. Let him stay in Toronto where playing defense is optional for a blueliner. 2 9
Popular Post McBackup
Pass. If we really wanted him we could get him in FA without giving up assets. Plus his current play isn’t exactly enticing. 1 2
coastal.view
barrie gets 2.75 from the leafs ferland gets 3.5 from the nucks and has a nmc stectcher gets 2.3 from the nucks so laffs are taking on an additional 3 million - how exactly and ferland is not moveable, so there is that too laffs cannot even fit a 23 player roster under the cap presently so this one is not going to happen 1 1

Barrie is on the expiring deal, but has serious offence. Stecher is a hard working character guy, who isn’t costing too much.

Couldn’t he play with Benn 5 on 5, and be on PP two for Edler? That could lower eddie’s minutes too. I really like Stecher’s effort though, and Barrie is only a rental. 1

Stecher + Ferland for Barrie. Leafs get tougher + RD at good cap. We get an offensive upgrade off the blue line. Not sure why it hasn’t worked in TO, but I don’t think his coach has given him much of a leash, or an opportunity on PP1... so I partly blame deployment... Kind of like why Myers failed in Win... Edler Myers Hughes Tanev Benn Barrie (to be extended) would b sick. RHD Barrie will be a more natural to play 1T with Petey, and far more agile than Myers, dropping and boosting PP2 with Hughes. Id honestly back of Edlers PP time. Allow him some more time to focus on matchup hockey. I would do that trade, he is an upgrade on stecher. Aren't we glad JB did not give up our 10th overall for this guy back at the draft like sakic wanted. hes not hard to play against, so we don't really need him. What we need is: 1. A chara/pronger/ type d man, maybe that is tryamkin but that's a stretch 2.A goal scoring winger to play on the 2nd line. and thats it, Barrie does not fit any of those and we already have Hughes to play the offensive d man role who can quarter back the PP if he continues to stink in TO where there is Mathews, Tavares, Marner etc... we can probably get him on the cheap as a UFA, he is from Victoria. I don't care how many points you put up, if you're a complete liability in your own end you shouldn't be playing D in the NHL. Barrie's incompetence in the defensive zone is completely unacceptable and realistically I'd rather see one of the Utica guys called up than ice a defenseman who can't play defense. Regardless of who you put Barrie with to babysit him, the team is better off without him.
Popular Post LordCanuck
we have hughes, that should end this discussion, we need a top 6 winger. 2
higgyfan
Basically trading 2 roster players for a rental. Nucks don't have the salary cap to extend a multi M$ contract. Rather wait to see if Tryamkin is a fit.
Coconuts
Why would we take on Toronto's rental mess for players under contract even if Toronto had the cap space to make this work? They're in cap hell. This team doesn't need Barrie, it needs to get healthy. Edited November 17, 2019 by Coconuts
flickyoursedin
I’m really surprised Barrie hasn’t produced on such a good team. Guess there’s not much left after Morgan Rielly gets all the first reps. This Toronto stint will bring down his UFA offers.

Buttery soft forward group and Muzzin is the only D who plays like an NHLer in his own zone The best case scenario for them is they make the playoffs and get smoked in the first round again. Rielly's play style also creates a culture where it's acceptable to play like absolute trash in your own end with zero accountability.
Popular Post DeNiro
Lol people already giving up on Ferland. I don’t think some people realize what he brought to this team. They play much more tame with him out of the lineup. We’re gonna need him if we wanna be a playoff team. 1 2 1

Along with Beagle and Motte, those three give this team swagger and an identity. Right now they’re playing reactionary hockey rather than driving the pace. 1

Dazzle
Stecher is not the reason for why the Canucks are playing so bad. Plus he's a fan favourite. Come on guys.
