Guys with skill, size, and who can play every style of game often stand out. I’m just really impressed with how he plays.

Negatives: Slow start, vastly outplayed 5v5. Overall I think we got seriously lucky tonight, this team is still struggling. 1 hour ago, NeilColville said: Green loves sitting back on those leads. On a good note, we won ! 1 hour ago, Qwags said: About time special teams made a difference. Marky won us that 3rd period. 1. Great to finally get another win. And EP, Boeser, Hughes and Miller all had great nights on the PP and added quite a bit to their stats. 2. It is an old hockey adage that "most nights, the team with the better goalie wins". It might be an exaggeration to say "most nights", but it happens a lot a lot and it certainly happened tonight. Marky was the difference. He had an outstanding game The Canucks were outshot 48-22 and in terms of high danger chances or expected goals it was just as ugly. Nashville had a ton of good opportunities but between Marky and some lucky bounces (including a post and a crossbar) Nashville got "only" three goals, while Rinne struggled for Nashville. 3. I agree with Neil about sitting back on the lead. The Canucks were dominated in the 3rd period. They have to play more aggressively with the lead or they are going to lose a lot of leads. 4. As the Canucks won, Green will probably come back with the same line-up next game. He shouldn't. Even though the Canucks won, the experiment of playing Graovac and MacEwen was not very successful. Yes, Graovac scored a goal but when he out there with Beagle and Schaller that line was absolutely crushed in possession numbers. Graovac's on-ice 5-on-5 Corsi was 3 for and 12 against and Beagle was worse at 2 and 19. The Horvat line with MacEwen also struggled. I appreciate having more toughness in the line-up but not at the cost of titling the ice so dramatically against the Canucks. Baertschi should be be playing and it will be great to get Roussel back. 5. Myers continues to struggle. His on-ice Corsi at 5-on-5 was by far the worst on the D even though he was playing on the 3rd pairing. And, just by the eye-test, he looked to me like he was making a lot bad decisions and giving up a lot of chances. Marky bailed him out a few times and so did Benn. 6. I don't now why Green always seems so reluctant to play Stecher. Finally, Stecher was moved the "first pairing". Actually, the D were all pretty even in time on ice tonight except for Edler, who played more (and led the team with 7 blocked shots!). 6. Gaudette did not score but he was good tonight. I thought that he had the most jump of all the forwards and his underlying stats were good. He and Leivo played well together. I thought Virtanen struggled at times tonight and was the weak link on that line. 7. Maybe this game will help the team turn the corner but I am still worried as the Canucks were lucky to come away with a win tonight. 1 1

Why did the Canucks prevail: 1) Stupid penalties all night by Nashville players. 2) 4 of 5 goals on PP scored by lucky bounces and deflections. 3) Fantastic game by Markstrom... he bailed the team out and kept the Canucks ahead. Not one even strength goal scored... unless you count the empty netter. Under Green's system this team is now dependent on PP goals scored by lucky bounces in order to win a game... versus opposition which gifts the team with PP chances. Anyone who thinks depending on this kind of luck will get the team into the Playoffs needs to think again. Haha come on man, that's a very negative spin on the game. They directed the pucks at the game with traffic, so most of those goals will look like "lucky bounces and deflections".

I don’t think anybody thinks that. Gotta end the losing skid somewhere though, and it’s usually with an ugly win like this. 4 5

Ronaldoescobar
Despite some rookie gaffs, can’t say I am not liking Hughes 2nd in rookie scoring (behind another Dman, which is also nice to see).

Topcheeze86
I hate watching us TRY and hold a lead rather than playing aggressive to put them back on there heels keeping the in the offensive zone to a minimal but no green makes them collapse smh great PP weak 5 on 5 game were still not on the up and up
mj vic
Anyone else a little concerned about Benn and Meyers? I was really on board with their signings but am somewhat disapointed with what they have brought so far.

It will be a miracle if we make it out of this month alive. PS we are third in the pacific!

Seems like we score 3-5 a game then go 0-15 over a 3/4 game stretch. Exactly, just when you think Brown is done, team scores like 3-5 PP goals. Then we go back to our PP drought and repeat the process.
