Popular Post Toews
Aliu stood up to hazing at age 16, proceeded to get cross checked in the teeth and had a fight with an 18 year old Steve Downie. For speaking out, he was labeled a "problem". There are a lot of people on twitter and other platforms accusing Carcillo for "looking for attention". Carcillo has felt the way he does for a long time. This is from one of Carcillo's former teammates Rich Clune. Quote You’re probably sitting here on your phone or your laptop reading this thinking, Why? How? How can you be given the chance to do what you’ve dreamed about doing since you were a little kid playing street hockey, and decide to throw it all away? Because I was terrified. Because I lived in a constant state of fear. It starts when you’re young and dumb. I left home when I was 16 years old to go play in the OHL. When I got there, I was on a team with guys who were two and three years older than me. They had beards. These guys were men. This was back in the days when physical hazing was pretty prominent, but luckily one of the older guys on the team, Daniel Carcillo, stuck up for me for some reason and made sure the older guys didn’t mess with me too bad. I’ll always love him for that. But right away, the culture of drinking and machismo in Junior hockey starts to weigh down on you. We were drinking in bars after Sunday night games at 16. I look at a 16 year old kid now and I’m like, Wow, that’s a very small human. What in the hell were we doing? https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/rich-clune-hockey-nhl I believe Carcillo is sincere in his attempts to root out abuse from the game. I applaud his efforts. Edited November 28, 2019 by Toews Corrected Downie's age 4

It predates the beginning of the century. As do racial slurs involving Irish, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Aboriginal, Jewish, and Japanese people. 17 minutes ago, Down by the River said: Some people have lost their ability to separate virtue signalling SJW stuff from things that are actually problematic. I think the SJW virtue signaling has muddied the waters for a lot of people to the point where some folks do lump them all in together. Plenty of people are tired of being bombarded by political correctness, and it tends to affect how they react. This is where civil conversation and discourse rather than echo chamber finger pointing and accusations come in handy.

Now again, I can’t state enough that I don’t side with Peters when using “that word”. However, in his initial statement, Aliu said that Peters never apologized. Now, Aliu is saying that the statement was, “misleading, insincere, and concerning.” Misleading and concerning, sure. Insincere? Well, that’s on him if he believes it’s insincere. However, it is also “misleading” to say in his initial statement that Peters never apologized, and he wouldn’t have brought it up had he done so initially. Well, now we’re hearing different. So, while Aliu might be 100% correct in his response now that Peters is “misleading” in his statement, unfortunately Aliu was also misleading in his initial statement, which unfortunately, doesn’t help. 3

Hockey, like every other sport and industry, has some nasty things in its past that need reconciling. Lets get it out now, deal with it and move on. Hockey will be better for it.
