I wouldn't be surprised if Benning pulls the trigger on a Baertschi or Goldy for Stephenson trade. Especially now since even Graovac is injured and will be out along with Sutter / Beagle. Capitals fans loved him in their last playoffs and some fans thought he was going to be a fixture in their top 9 or top 6. Most of their fans are unhappy with his play this year saying he is under performing. Chandler Stephenson has only 4 points but that is 1 more than Beagle and 2 more than Graovac. 4th line centres don't usually put up big numbers. Who do the Canucks play at centre on the 4th line then? MacEwen? Schaller? I know both those names were thrown around on the radio. Not sure we have many options. I don't see why it should be shut down It is a legit idea, and asks a question I don't necessarily think we should make the trade but maybe I think it is worth the discussion..... but with Beagle back soon, and Schaller, and McEwen do we need to? Stephenson could hold the fort as the 4th line centre until we get bodies back. Washington has Hagelin coming off LTIR and are trying to create the cap space to activate him as well as a roster spot. They can't add anyone. Stephenson went through waivers earlier this season and is probably going back now that they are looking to activate Hagelin. Same issue for the Canucks btw with Roussel returning. They've just put Ferland on LTIR because they don't have enough cap space to deal with injuries.
