Kovalchuk is not playing and they don't need the cap space for now. There's no incentive to add a longer contract in Eriksson given where their team is at right now. Juolevi, Woo and a second alone is worth more then their first! They looking to rebuild why not go after couple first round top end prospects? Defence is exactly what they need... Doughty needs help can’t do everything by himself;) maybe Ericksson plays better in a different uni. Who knows. Gamble gamble.

Woo is not even part of the preliminary roster for the U20. LA is so low in the standings that they have a chance at Lafrenière. From the Edmonton Journal based on the outcome of draft picks / how players have performed: "The difference between drafting 10th and drafting 6th is about four second round picks. The difference between drafting 10th and winning the third overall pick in the lottery is nine second round picks."

Lots top five picks that suck who shouldn’t even been there! Not even remotely close to what your implying! 2nd round pick worth more then u think! Lots of greats in the nhl drafted in 3-8 rounds who light it the f up in the big show! Your way off buds! Sorry to say! Lots of Dynamic players who been drafted 3 round to late 7 round! Datsyuk, lindstrom, Zetterberg, Kucherov, paveski, Bufuglien, Rinne, Hasek, Jaime Benn the list goes on! And that’s not even including The undrafted players! So yah my value is there! More so then you think;)

More so then you think;) It's the result of a study that compiled the outcome of the past drafts - i.e. by measuring how players turned out historically and the impact they ended up making. You can read more about that study and see the numbers per draft position here: https://edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/its-worth-it-for-this-edmonton-oilers-team-not-to-tank-but-theres-a-high-price-attached How many picks were made to find those players. The likelihood of finding an impact player in the later rounds is significantly lower. There are so many misses. No team can have all the necessary picks to guarantee the success rate that they would have by drafting high. In the pre-draft video released by the Canucks you can hear Weisbrod say that in any draft year there are only about 30 players that reach 300 NHL games. Most come from right at the top of the draft. Holland himself was saying that it's not a viable strategy to try and find impact players in the later rounds as the system will catch up and talks of the importance of drafting at the very top. I totally agree with you on the drafting numbers you have stated. But that doesn’t mean Juolevi and Woo plus our second is nothing compared to a kings number one pick. Yes it may be top 5 pick considering. but it can also be a 10-12 pick. Depending on the lottery draft. Who’s to say kings land 5 or better. That would be the only RISK trading these two top end defensive pairings. But it will also give us more cap room a lot sooner then later... hence Lou going the other way for Kovy;) it would be wicked if both players found their game in a different city! It’s plausible for sure! And a bonus would be if Kings did land a top 5 pick in first round that will only make our team stronger and a brighter future much more quickly. I’m sure kings would love couple 1st round pick dman. that are more valuable in today’s market. So it’s definitely a Risk on both ends! Just hoping we get more lucky then LA does lol. We suck at Getting a first round pick lol! How many times we finish at the bottom last five years and always pick 5-10 pick ratio! We have the worst luck I swear haha! I think we can all see the benefits of your proposal to the Canucks. But there is not enough benefit or reason for the Kings to accept this trade. 1

Ok let’s say your right it’s not enough... let’s spice it up then! Myb this will get the job done! Van trades Lou Eriksson + Tyler Myers + Vasily Podkolzin + Antoine Roussel + 2nd rd pick LA trades Ilya Kovalchuk + Alex Turcotte + Tyler Toffoli + 1st rd pick opens up cap space for us a lot quicker! for a much better player for Horvats line;) Kings gets a giant to help out their blue line... kings has 7.5 million in Available cap space. Is that enough? Prolly not eh lol Edited December 11, 2019 by KnuckleHead16

Is that enough? Prolly not eh lol LA is rebuilding. They aren't looking to add veterans - they are trying to sell off their veterans for more draft picks and prospects. The value isn't there either for LA. They picked 5th overall - if they had interest in Podkolzin over Turcotte they would have just drafted him. A rebuilding team is not going to give up a key prospect and a 1st for players they don't need. Roussel and Myers don't fit their rebuild. Eriksson has more term than Kovalchuk. KnuckleHead16
Should push for kings 1st and Toffoli + Kovalchuk;) Juolevi and Podzkolzin + Eriksson + Myers should get it done;) more wishful thinking on my part though! Never hurts to ask though haha! Edited December 15, 2019 by KnuckleHead16
Odjick the Warrior
If the Canucks are going to trade for anyone on the Kings it will be Taffoli as he is the type of scoring winger needed and could be traded for some of the Canucks glut of prospects in the farm system and Stetcher would have to be included as the Kings don’t have many defensive prospects ready to play.
