Yesterday Mike Smith made 35 saves when Edmonton won against Boston despite being outshot by 36-26.

The same day Michael Hutchinson made 33 saves in a shutout for Toronto despite his team being outshot 33-22.

On that very same day Linus Ullmark stopped 32 of 34 to win it for Buffalo. His team was outshot 34-18.

This was one day. It happens.

Every top goalie in the league steals games.  That's the point of having a top goalie.

Its been allot more then just the one day. You are correct, but Its how often that happens that separates a "hot golatender" from an elite one . Ya we are definitely not the only team with a goaltender stealing lots of games 4 sure.

Damn, Looks like it's a battle of two win streaks on Tuesday against the Bolts!

Both teams have a 7 game winning streak, but only ONE will have 8 :frantic:

Lol, really loving hockey these days! Supplement that with my small Betway gambling problem...... The best!

Gino, looking a bit like Pat Quinn.

So good to see him living life, long after what was suspected to be his last ever hospital stay.

Wife and I thought he was looking better than the last time we saw him out there, too.  can't remember the event, but he was looking pretty frail.

Gotta love the ol guy.  Keep up the fight, Gino, we're all cheering for you!

checkout the GWG for Canada....this is what I've been talking about....check it out.

Neutral zone regroup executed to perfection...it's all about puck possession

D take it back to the Dzone or Neutral zone, pass D to D in order to let the forwards clear the zone,

D passes it to the forward on the boards who is open and the forward passes it to the centerman or weak side winger who is supporting the forward on the boards...this play happened to have Thomas come back deep through the neutral zone and he timed the rush with the pass to the forward on the boards and then broke in for the GWG....it's all about puck possession, rather than dumping it in before the forwards clear the zone.

This is what the Canucks need to do more.

Listen to Myers PG comments, if you are concerned about the Canucks getting "hemmed in".

It's by design, 5 man collapse rope a dope.

Chicago used to run that system under Quenville - it was the first things Jeremy changed when he took over....

I don't love it at the pro-level, too many variables and skill for things to go wrong. At the Atom level it's gold cause most kids can't shoot or pass yet.

It seems to suit our 2nd and 3rd lines better than our 1st and 4th lines - who look to be roping the dope a lot.

Markstrom stole this game... the Canucks had no business winning it based on their play.

Rangers completely outplayed and out chanced the Canucks.

It took Markstrom's outstanding performance and Quinn Hughes moment of genius in disorganizing Ranger's in their zone and Bo's pass to Myers to generate the winning goal in a period when the Canucks were hemmed in their own zone most of the time.

The Canucks spent most of the game dumping the puck in and turning it over to the Rangers who took it to them and plastered Markstrom... fortunately he was up to the challenge.

Puck possession was overwhelmingly in the Rangers favour.  Green's system guaranteed that... he is doing nothing to teach the players how to maintain possession and get consistent chances.

Green is coasting on the back of a very talented group, but a better coach would achieve much more.  The Canucks as a group are not coached to play as a unit offensively, the system relies on individual effort and haphazard attacking, no structured zone entry, nothing but dump and chase.

And the number of shots opposing teams are generating will also start to result in Canucks injuries.  Team is already up at the top of the league in blocked shots.  Just a matter of time till guys like Tanev/Edler/Beagle go down... Beagle took three or four shots versus NYR which could have put him out of the game.

Win streak will not last long as current system stays in place... if they play the same way versus Tampa Bay I predict a loss.

You have this perception because you're mostly watching Canucks games. If you watch other teams, you'll see quickly that goalies steal many many games every night. Even elite teams have to get bailed out every so often. That's why the goalie position is the most important in hockey.

The difference is that Marky is stealing more than just one game... he has stolen multiple games in the current streak and previously.

Team is too dependent on him coming up big.

Just watched the gwg a few times over. 99% of all the Dman playing pro hockey would have chipped the puck in deep if they are walking the blue line on their backhand.

This blew me away too. Seems like the kid could juggle puck bunnies, while traversing a tightrope on a unicycle! Incredible nerves of steel.

Marky has been good but he can't score goals!!! sure the guys did not play great but they stayed in the game till the end where it counted the most. as a fan of our team  I cheer for the players and the goalie. they are a team!  the rangers couldn't score either. how are we getting multiple goals a game? have you checked how many 5 goal games we have won.  I believe this team is doing fine

Team is getting PP chances and goals disproportionately from Power Play... more than any other NHL team.

PP is where the skill level of young Canucks shines... in a PP players with the advantage are not pressured so they can generate shots easier and gain the zone easier... but in even strength situations these same skilled players are not being as productive because there is not the offensive system in place to allow them to gain the zone in possession and to encourage them to use their skills as part of a line.

Being dependent on PP goals may work in the regular season but it won't in the Playoffs where the Refs put away the whistles and even strength play is the key to winning.

Good points cause I remembered that the lack of pp oppurtunities during the 2011 playoffs, as one of the teams flaws during our last cap run.  This is for Green to figure out.

That's why you draft someone like Jake, who doesn't need PP time to produce. Can't wait to see him in the playoffs.

Time to make another nonsense poll of yours that normally get locked! "Marky is stealing too many games" that could be your title! Carry on...

sure they generate a lot of pp, but they also score five on five, last night we didn't score on the powerplay and the Chicago game we score on one powerplay. we scored 7 goals  and 6 were 5 on 5, the Calgary game the score was 5-2 and we scored 2 pp goals but 3, 5 on 5, so not all are on the pp

Never said the majority of the Canuck's goals were on the PP... I said a disproportionate amount were on the PP.

Canucks have the highest percentage of total team goals by PP compared to any team in the league.

Teams which lead the league have a low percentage of goals by PP.... like Boston and Washington... they are not reliant on the PP anywhere near as much as the Canucks.

It’s most successfull when a Canuck steps out of the box and lays a heavy body check that breaks the cycle.

Stationary box , not so much.

Don't mistake my criticism of Green for criticism of the team and its players.

I think this team has unbelievable talent... Pettersson, Hughes, Horvat, Miller, Boeser, Markstrom, Demko, Gaudette, Virtanen, etc. etc.

But that talent is not being used to its potential offensively because the coaching and systems are not in place.
