All in! [Proposal]

Recommended Posts

Long lurker, first time poster.

Feel like this core just needs a bit of tweaking to go on a deeeeeep run!

And as much as many here wish we could get something for nothing, sadly that's not the case..

So I propose three deal, that well sacrificing some of our prospect depth give us long term pieces to age with our core well shedding considerable salary going forward.

Not a numbers wizard, but think the cap should be pretty good, with maybe a little bit of jimmying on any of the deals..

Also fully believe tree is signing at the end of February and can step in without hesitation.

Dude Tyler Bertuzzi is probably my favourite player not on the Canucks or the Sens... but WOW that is a huge overpayment on him.

These are pretty big deals... Love Hamhuis but don't really want him back either. I think he's better playing away from the Vancouver spotlight.

So the main issue seems to be with the second package, and the value of Bertuzzi.

What do y'all think he's worth?

Pods Floor is significantly lower then the player Tyler currently is, Woo from the majority of sources seems to have regressed this year, Sutter is a cap dump, and the first is going to be at least 24, but probably higher..

Would attaching conditions to the first make it more palatable ?

It's 2 first round picks (and then some) for.... Tyler Bertuzzi

I'm sure you remember the reactions when we recently traded just 1? And for a better player..

Yup

Where's @48MPHSlapShot? He's got a running theme about these kind of threads.

That 1st gif is Nashville.

Forsberg is a 30 goal scorer and a core player for them.  He's their best forward and probably the only one that can really take over a game.  I don't even think they'd consider doing Boeser for Forsberg.  Forsberg scores in so many different ways and can play a power forward game.

Eriksson is a cap dump.  Tanev an upcoming UFA - would be a 3rd pairing D in Nashville.  Canucks intend to sign Markstrom - losing Demko for someone as versatile as Forsberg is negligible.  Lind might never make the league and a 2nd round pick is a giant question mark.

There's really nothing in it for Nashville other than Demko.  They have already ear-marked Saros as the heir to Rinne and they have AHL-all star goalie Connor Ingram waiting in the wings.

Hey there. Good on ya for posting some ideas. Unlike some on here, I don't get upset that you like to think about how to make our team better and post your thoughts for discussion. So please don't be put off by the negativity.

Of course these deals won't happen. We're all just spit balling. And in my personal opinion I think that the Canucks should not go all in this year, it is too early for their young core.

But hey, in response to your OP, I think the roster you have proposed is not quite a Cup contender (and neither is mine below), but I would rather keep Tanev over Hamhuis, and I think Demko is essential as a decent backup for Marky. So here are some possible changes to your three deals to get a top 6 winger plus Tyler Bert without losing Tanev and Demko:

Deal 1:

To MIN - Lind, Leivo, 2021 2nd

To VAN - Zucker

Deal 2:

To DET - Podkolzin, Sutter, Stecher

To VAN - Bertuzzi

Deal 3:

Sign Tryamkin to $2.5m

Waive Eriksson, MacEwen

Total cap out = $10.1m

Total cap in = $9.4m

Miller Pettersson Boeser

Pearson Horvat Zucker

Bertuzzi Gaudette Virtanen

Roussel Beagle Motte

Schaller

(LTIR = Ferland, Graovac; Utica depth = Eriksson, MacEwen, Baer, Goldobin)

Edler Myers

Hughes Tanev

Benn Tryamkin

Fantenberg

(Utica depth = Rafferty, Teves, Brisebois, OJ)

Markstrom Demko

The first gif was actually anyone of sane mind thinking about a hockey trade.

It's bad for both sides.

We're not having a problem scoring, which is awesome, but Hamhuis could only improve our D by putting Baumer into a submission hold and taking his job.

And the D is by far our biggest problem.
