Wonder what is so different in Germany:

21,854 cases and "only" 77 deaths for a .3% mortality rate.

More people being tested?

More people with minor symptoms being tested?

Are they getting sick people to advanced care quicker?

Age Demographics?

Were they a healthy, less pre existing conditions country?

More doctors and health care workers?

Better equipment?

Few things that I can think of.
Southern and southeastern Europeans are notorious for not respecting the authority.

Germans and Northern Europeans are much different breed.

Sporting events, cultural events, cafes, restaurants etc. were jam packed with younger people.

It is very common that 2-3 generations of the same family live together.

Italy has always been one of the most corrupt countries in Europe as well.

Very old population, medical staff got sick due to lack of equipment, whilst face masks were being sold to other countries.

All my friends from Italy pay or used to pay to get private care, even my doctor friends from Italy always complained about conditions.

Out of top 20 European hospitals, 8 are located in Germany and 0 in Italy.

I am sure that pre existing conditions and high smoking rates are not helpful either.

Random questions...

Anyone growing a beard? spending all day in track pants? cracking the beverages a little early? etc..

bishopshodan ... all the above :)

Just shaved the beard. In sweat pants and loaded up on scotch, Pink Whitney and Beer. Also bought the original Doom on xbox one and the new need for speed to pass the time.

I spoke on Germany last week and was absolutely shocked with the numbers and the death rate. As for Italy that country is being in recession for like a decade with all of this going on I honestly think when this all ends they will be the next Greece. I'm not trying to criticize them at all I really can't fathom how they have so many deaths and so many cases compared to elsewhere in Europe.

With the hair salons closing, it looks like long hair will be back in fashion again once this is all over. It'll be like the 70s revisited.

I got a head start on the long hair at least

So in the last few days Trudeau has closed the doors for non Canadian citizens , he created a bail out package that will help all Canadians, and stopped allowing illegal asylum seekers from crossing our borders.....  Welcome to becoming a Conservative Justin !

this idea is continually repeated

and i doubt you know what it means

or if you do, you do not appear to know what the impact would be

we require open supply chains

or we will not only have a virus crisis

but a supply crisis (food shortages, other medicines... etc. etc)

so shipping (not meaning just ships, but trucks, trains, planes, etc) needs to continue

there are also other reasons to not lock down a country

but i guess it feels good and safe to post this phrase or idea

you may wish to watch what the experts are saying about this issue

they truly have expertise

much more so then us on here

Before martial law, how about limiting who can go out according to address. Anyone whose address ends in an odd number can go out on odd days of the week. Even = even. Take is further and 0 = out from noon-1:59pm, 2 = 2:00-3:59, and so on.

Between today and yesterday I've lost faith that the majority of people will do the right thing. Can't leave the house for 20 minutes for some exercise to get some mental health relief without being placed at risk. Gonna by a Playstation instead. I've been working from home 12-14 hours a day for the last week. I needed that relief. Maybe heroin and video games in the substitute.
