Coronavirus outbreak

22 teachers. / staff in Quebec now have Covid since returning to work.

I'm actually surprised the rate of transmission has been that low in QC considering the exposure levels since they've returned to work/school and what we are learning about how the virus transmits through children.  I'm curious as to the level of testing they're doing and if/when these 22 confirmed cases results in another escalation in that province?

Dr. Bonnie and Horgan  tell school districts that kids can't spread Covid.

Do you have a quote of them saying that?

Young people are dumb but its ok because remember you were dumb too, once upon a time ago. This is just so idiotic and irresponsible, not even sure what the author means about cutting these idiots some "slack". The only way we could give them anymore slack is by praising them for their entitlement. I also know plenty of "young people" who are following guidelines to the letter so its clearly not behaviour that is endemic in any particular generation.

Directly from the government website on K-12 education put out May 19th:

Quote

Evidence indicates transmission involving children is primarily limited to household settings, and from COVID-19 positive adults to children. Most cases in children have been linked to a symptomatic household member.
• Clusters and outbreaks involving children and youth are unusual and tend only to occur in areas where there are high levels of community spread.
• Children are not the primary drivers of COVID-19 spread in schools or in community settings.

So no, while it doesn't expressly say kids can't transmit the virus, it essentially says the same thing 'wordsmithed' to absolve them of any responsibility should that eventuality occur - what else would you expect from government, right?  By sending staff/students back to school beginning Monday, they are taking a 'calculated risk' with the safety of the citizens of this province - given the context in which we live right now, I don't know how anyone could argue otherwise?

Read it many times.. even our wonderful Dr. Bonnie has said some mumbo jumbo about kids not good transmitters of Covid..

Tell that to the 20 teachers that just got covid...   Quebec government even gave their teachers masks..

BC government is sending teachers/staff into a gun fight with.......   well probably not even hand soap  .....  or sanitizer...

If you ask for accomodations.. due to health concerns / live with grandparents... etc...    and u want other tasks than working directly with kids.... . you are being told to use sick days or go unpaid.....

BC Government should be liable for any staff member / student  that dies  / or suffers long term health consequence.....due to returning to school with ZERO government issued PPE offered......

Why doe BC gov feel the need to lie to parents and school staffs ?  Why no PPE supplied to school staffs ?

we were told that directly today........well not that they can't, but that it's very unlikely.  They also told us it won't transmit on paper, cardboard or books.

  • Thanks 1
