In fact, Horvat is the only player in all 5 drafts he got with us that he got really well. That's 5 drafts and one real player to show for it. That is because he had a winning team, they won more games than Benning's teams have lost in a shorter period of time. Hodgson was in the running for the Calder playing 5 minutes less per game and you really are going to blame Gillis because he had a congenital disease? Plus, JB has Bracket directing our scouts, and running the drafts since 2017. Gillis was stuck with Delorme to rely on. I can just see it. Gillis: “so Ronny who do you like here, ROR seems to be good.” Delorme: “There’s a kid I really like more. He’s got the same name as a character from my favourite cartoon, Peanuts. I hear he plays the piano too.” 1

Like I said though that's because Gillis inherited a good roster and made great moves(trades/signings). That had nothing to do with his drafting. No players Gillis drafted were ever a part of our playoff success in his time. Benning inherited a stale, digressing core that the ownership still wanted to try to win with for some reason and had zero prospects to boot save Horvat. They're two scenarios on entirely opposite sides of the spectrum. Benning has filled the cupboard up tremendously. You cannot deny that during his regime we've been fortunate enough to possibly have the best young core we've ever had and it has potential to continue to grow moving forward.. Look at the roster. We have 3 Calder finalists the past 3 years with possibly 2 winners if Hughes wins. How is that not a good thing? That Pod kid is lighting up the KHL playoffs right now and looks like another gamer. People are complaining about Madden going and he was our 4th-6th best prospect at the time. Given the fact we've been screwed over by the lotto so many times things panned out well for us. Don't get me wrong. If I don't like something I see from JB I complain but drafting hasn't been one of those things with JB. I am pretty happy with it. 1 4

Two rookie coaches because they were cheap and we were rebuilding. We were going to go through dark times until we drafted some talent, no matter who the coach would of been. Our window has opened sooner than expected due to exceptional drafting. (3 consecutive Calder finalists/winners is an impressive feat). Now would be the time to bring on an experienced coach to take this team to the next level. 1 2

We are in pace to have five more wins this year than last. With the additions of Hughes, Miller and our upgrades on D. I think we technically have taken a step back. Where would we be without these players. Probably last place We need a new coach. 1

And by his pressers I don't think he hates losing enough. re: Torts or Quinn or AV. Things are A ok. I don't think he has that frothy mouthed cannonator in him. To blow asses out of seats. Some guys need there asses handed to them as soon as they hit the locker room. "wtf are you doing out there" stuff. Otherwise his style is great when were winning. Alflives
Green just said he’s rewarding Jake, who had a fabulous last game, by dropping Jake to the third line. Green feels Loui deserves that top six wing spot more. How about we get rid of Green before he does Willie D levels of damage to our top young players.

They went off board five or so picks - from what I've read he was an early adopter of the idea and pushed for it. Plus he beat the crap out of some CHI chump in the 82 final so there is that too ha ha.

Melbourne Canuck
Fire this clown! The defensive ineptitude of this team cannot be excused. It’s system based not personnel.
HKSR
Green has got to go if the Canucks miss the playoffs. Player deployment is absolutely atrocious. So damn stubborn even though he has no success to warrant his stubbornness.
MikeyD
Honestly surprised Gallant is still available. He's by far and away the best coach suited for this team. I'm gonna be so bummed if we don't acquire him. Pleaseeeeeee hold out until the off-season!

Not an excise for Gillis wadr Benning nabbed Gaudette in the 5th round.
wallstreetamigo
I am not on the fire Green train at all but I do think Gerard Gallant would be a tremendous fit with this group if a move is made. I really think the Canucks need a defense coach upgrade though. Same mistakes over and over. Either the message to change how they defend is not being communicated or the players aren't buying into it if it is.

My only hesitation with Gallant is how he was fired twice now has me concerned about him long term.

While I agree about concerns with Gallant it’s more that he’s known as a player’s coach. All coaches, even the great Mike Babcock, get fired. DownUndaCanuck
8-9-2 since the All Star break for a team that was fighting for first in the division. This isn't all on Markstrom, Green has to get the boys more fired up because he's getting them outworked and outplayed nightly now. 1 win in the last 6 games is how you get fired.
