St. Louis Blues Trading for del Zotto made all the difference that’s what your referring too.

Incorrect.  Try again.  It's actually important.  As the answer kind of defeats much of your entire angst over this trade

Nice psychoanalysis doctor Hockeyharry.
Don’t agree with your prognosis, and will have to consider seeking a second opinion.

This trade is just like some other trade that hasn’t happened? That’s rich.

June 27th we will know who the 2nd rounder is and also how Toffoli was as an ex Canuck.

Every stanley cup winner or runner up has engaged in signing one year deals, trading for rental players during the season on expiring contracts or with 1-2 years left on their contracts leading back to 2010.

Defeats your entire argument pretty easily.  Even your article shows that.  Rentals, and minor term rentals are effective to cup winning teams and those that came in 2nd place.

Hainsey played 16 regular-season games and 25 in the playoffs, serving as a valuable second-pairing cog on a defense that found success without the injured Kris Letang. Streit was a scratch for all but three games during the Penguins' run to the Stanley Cup.

Schultz was a regular during the playoffs and saw his ice time grow when Trevor Daley was injured during the Eastern Conference Final. The acquisition of Schultz was the final tweak of Rutherford's reload; he had traded for Daley and forwards Nick Bonino, Carl Hagelin and Phil Kessel during the previous eight months.

Vermette scored three game-winning goals, two in overtime, in the final two series and helped the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup for the third time in six seasons. Desjardins and Timonen were role players.

Gaborik led the NHL in goals during the playoffs with 14 (and was fourth with 22 points), helping the Kings win the Cup and making GM Dean Lombardi look like a genius.

Handzus had 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in the playoffs. He also took key face-offs and killed penalties.

Carter's nine points in 16 games after the trade helped Los Angeles squeeze into the postseason, but his eight playoff goals were key to the Kings winning the Stanley Cup for the first time since entering the NHL in 1967.

Adding role players paid off big; the Bruins wouldn't have won the Cup without Peverley, Kelly and Kaberle. Peverley and Kelly stepped up to fill in for Nathan Horton and Marc Savard, who missed most of the Stanley Cup Final against the Vancouver Canucks. Peverley, Kelly and Kaberle combined for 24 postseason points.

Glad you can predict the future. Just let me know the next lotto 6-49 numbers and we can be best buds.

To be clear, you’re positive that Tofoli is going to be an ex-Canuck, right?

Madden had future value to acquire younger assets and to keep the prospects pool stocked...or to be traded for a player who’s on a decent multi year contract.

In stead Jimbo was insecure about this team and made a desperate GM trade...Jimbo just doubled down on this 1 season of playoffs with draft picks.

This trade is like trading Gaudette and a 2nd(hoglander or Woo) for a Rental hoping it guaranteess a few playoffs games....all because Jimbo and management are insecure with the team.

Sure. Except the trade was Madden, Schaller, 2nd, conditional 4th.

Madeen is 20 years old. How much younger could the potential returns have been? Are you for a perpetual draft and trade?

What is Benning supposed to do? Do nothing like Nonis did? Would that bring you comfort? Doing nothing?

Its hard to recognize a winning man when you’re used to losers. Outside of Burke and Quinn, no one else can even be in the same conversation as Benning.

Im sure you’ll find something to burn down in time.
