grandmaster
Shea is playing the best hockey in years and has just cleared from his ankle sprain. This trade would deal with our cap situation and we finally get rid of LE. We would clear just over 3M in cap space in this trade. Weber would make our D very formidable and this position is our greatest weakness. The first will help ease the age issue with Weber.

qwijibo
Montreal does that why? A top pairing D and a high 1st for a good but injury prone winger and a cap dump

Weber is an older player that should be shipped to a return while he has some value. Win win for both teams.

khay
Weber is 34-35 years old. Brock is 22. We don't know how many more years of high level of play Weber will be able to sustain. Brock is dealing with issues but he hasn't even peaked yet. I'd say no even if we can dump Eriksson's contract.
Warhippy
Shea might be done, there's rumours he's considering retirement as this injury has to do with a prior existing injury. No dice. Edited February 18, 2020 by Warhippy

They could get a player on par with Boeser without the injury history or $6m cap hit in this years draft. And they don’t create a giant void in their D moving their top Defenceman. They also have zero need for Eriksson. This is brutal for Montreal

No dice. A) Kypreos story has been thoroughly debunked. There’s even reports of Weber being furious over the suggestion B, the injury is a sprained anklr. Not related to the previous surgery on his broken foot C) Weber is dressing in tonight’s game. 1

Odd.
If I'm trading Boeser, it's gonna be for Matt Dumba.

Be that as it may, it still leaves him with a massive salary, an aging defence man with numerous injuries that does not fit this team under its cap and timeline at this point. Far to much subtraction

Far to much subtraction That’s fine. But to suggest that Montreal will give up their Captain and top pairing right shot + a high 1st to get a talented but injury prone winger and have to take 2 years of a $6m cap dump. That’s not a reasonable deal for Montreal Edited February 18, 2020 by qwijibo

You are also assuming their pick will be a guarantee Boeser level player. The Habs drafting over the years have been horrendous. Good luck with that hope. Patel Bure
Although I like the idea of trading Brock for a defenseman, trading for Weber would be a huge mistake in my opinion. Weber is playing well right now, but that contract could end up being Brent Seabrook part deux given Weber’s age and the length of that contract. Hard pass. Having veteran leadership like Weber is actually very important. they also have one if the best prospect pools (recently named number 2 in the league in the Athletic’s recent rankings) They don’t need to move their top D and a high 1st for the privilege of paying the equivalent of $11.8m to a young talented winger with a long injury history
