Popular Post kenhodgejr
Van is going all in for the cup this year. With Brock out for the season we will need some more help in the top 6 for scoring. Pageau fits the mold of a Toffoli, Miller, type who can battle and score goals in the playoffs. To Van Jean-Gabriel Pageau To Ottawa Brock Boeser Louie Eriksson 2021 2nd Ottawa does this because Pageau could re sign elsewhere at the end of the season which makes him a rental. Brock is the key piece coming back how is a proven young NHL goal scorer. Trade is structured similar to the Tofoli trade but Boeser has more value than Madden and Eriksson is more of a burden than Schaller. Van does this because they want to win the cup this year and Pageau gives them another top 6 center if they run into injury problems. Patel Bure
Canucks shouldn’t be using Brock as a sweetener to get rid of Eriksson (for a rental). That’s Corky Thatcher levels of retard. I don’t think the Canucks would be able to afford JGP when you consider our long term cap space and what we’d have to give up to get JGP. If we’re talking Ottawa, I’d go Demko and Eriksson for Craig Anderson (Anderson helps us as a back up for the playoff run) and we also get Eriksson off the books. This of course is assuming that Eriksson is scheduled to NOT retire after this season (I’m not sure if Benning and LE have an unspoken agreement of some kind). As far as Boeser goes, Benning has gone on record stating that he has a desire (and even a plan) to recoup the 1st that we have up for Miller. My guess is that if Toffoli impresses here and has a desire to stay here, the Canucks might move Boeser for the 1st (while clearing cap space).

VegasCanuck
I'm warming up to the idea of moving Boeser, but not as a sweetener in a deal. The reason I'm warming up to it is, I'm concerned about Boeser's long term durability considering how many injuries he's had the last 3 seasons. He's got a lot of missed games. So, if there was a situation where. #1, We resign Toffoli at similar cap hit to Boeser #2, We could move Boeser for either a top 3 or 5 pick in the upcoming draft, or another player of similar potential, who still has another 2 or 3 years left on his ELC, but is ready / proven that he can compete in the NHL now and provide us with greater overall depth. Not saying I love the idea of moving him, but I also saw enough potential in how Toffoli is already fitting in on that line with Pettersson, to see that with the "right" move, we could free up cap space now and put ourselves in position for a really strong playoff push either next season or the one after. For the right deal, I wouldn't hate this.
