[proposal Stecher + 3rd for a rental on defense

Recommended Posts

A few things @DarkIndianRises

I like Tryamkin coming back.

Tryamkin and Myers should never be paired together.

If the canucks were to trade Stecher + 3rd for another rhd that is a rental, it better be a top 4 rhd and improves the team more then Stecher by a margin.

Stecher an RFA/ we own him whether he signs or not, adding a 3rd for a rental only means the player is that much better.

Canucks lose Stecher a 3rd and the rental for maybe 25-53games?

With losing Ferland for perhaps his career, I'd like his grit replaced.

If Stecher and a 3rd are moved i want a bigger meaner d man to replace him.

Get all the Josh's!

Cbj Josh Anderson to vancouver for Baertschi & Goldobin!

Stecher + 3rd + Rathbone to Anaheim for Josh Manson!

Miller Pettersson Toffoli

Pearson Horvat Virtanen

Roussell Gaudette Anderson

Motte Beagle Sutter

Ferkie gone until next year( hopefully)

Leivo out until playoffs

Boeser may be done for the year..

Hughes Tanev

Edler Myers

Tryamkin Manson

Fantenberg Benn

Thatchy D

1) Agreed with you on Tryamkin and Myers.

2) Goldie and Bear won’t get you Josh Anderson.
3) The reason why I mention the idea of trading Stecher + 3rd for a rental D on an expiring contract (top 4 calibre), is because the Canucks need to find a way where they can make an aggressive push for this year, while simultaneously keeping a mindful eye for their future when their window really begins.    The Canucks need to have enough future cap space in order to re-sign Pettersson and Hughes, and they’ll also need to make sure that Edler is adequately replaced (ie a top pairing “all situations” defenseman that can shut down and log heavy minutes).

If I was Benning, I’d do the following:

2020 Summer:

-re-sign Toffoli:

-re-sign Markstrom

-re-sign Virtanen

-re-sign Motte

-Rafferty replaces Stecher (Stecher is unqualified or traded for a pick).

-Tryamkin replaces Tanev (Canucks move on from Tanev at the end of the Summer).

-Jordie Benn is traded for a low round pick towards the end of the Summer.  Someone from Utica replaces Benn.

-Brock Boeser is moved around the draft for a 1st round pick.   This helps us clear cap space, while also allowing the Canucks to recoup their 1st from the Miller deal.

-Ferland (god bless him), hopefully retires.

-Eriksson (god bless him) hopefully retires after July 1st, OR is packaged with Demko to clear cap space

-Baertschi is traded with 50% retention towards the end of the Summer

-Sutter is traded with 50% retention towards the end of the summer:

-The Canucks will from Leivo

-The Canucks re-sign Motte

Miller-Pettersson-Toffoli

Pearson-Horvat-Virtanen

Roussel-Gaudette-Lind

Motte-Beagle-MacEwan

Edler-Myers

Hughes-Tryamkin

Fantenberg-Rafferty

Markstrom

[new Back-up]

2021 Summer:

-Beagle moved at 50% retention for a pick

-Roussel moved at 50% retention for a pick.

-Myers is exposed in the Expansion draft.
-Canucks walk away from Edler
-The Canucks sign Pettersson, Hughes, and go VERY hard after a top pairing “all situations” defenseman to replace Edler.  This guy could very well be the “Brent Seabrook” to Quinn Hughes’ Duncan Keith.

Miller-Pettersson-Toffoli

Pearson-Horvat-Virtanen

Hoglander-Gaudette-Podkolzin

Motte-Gradjovich-MacEwan

Hughes-[EdlerReplacement]

Tryamkin-Rafferty
Juolevi-[Woo/UticaProspect/UFA signing]

Markstrom

Josh Anderson has like 4 points this year in 26 games.

cbj needs offensively gifted wingers.

Baertschi and Goldobin have been dominant in utica.

Baer has 2A in 6 nhl games this year.

Annnd Since Madden was traded and benning stated we have 3 centers on our roster to build around for the future.... Gaudette is not being traded.

Agree with you about Gaudette.

Anderson is having a bad year, but Columbus won’t give him up that easily.   They’ll either ask for a higher return (based on his prior history), OR they’ll hold onto him and wait for him to get his game back.

Love Buff, but is he even able to play anymore?  Guy isn’t exactly known for staying in shape, right?

I have no clue on how his conditioning has been over the duration of his absence in the NHL?!? I’d love to find out. Man it would be a nice addition even if it just for this years playoffs:) imagine him and simmonds on our squad! Nobody will mess with Petey Boeser Hughes or any of our young stars then! That be sick!
