No argument there.

However what version of Barrie would we be getting?

Can he flip the switch and get back to that level? That’s the risk along with if he’s even healthy.

That is always the risk in getting a player.

For every Subban and Karlsson there’s a Miller and a Toffoli.

Because he plays like an AHLer in his own zone.  He might be even more of a defensive liability than Pouliot.  That's absolutely atrocious, no matter how many points you put up.  He's worse than useless and frankly Benn and Palmu is overpayment for a defenseman who can't play defense.

I know you’re only saying this because Barrie is playing for the Leafs. If we were getting him from Colorado you’d be singing a completely different tune.

Laughable at best.

Toronto makes last night's game competitive with an NHLer instead of Barrie on D.  Not only was he a complete liability out there, he wasn't even attempting to prevent scoring chances.  Keep this worthless piece of garbage on the Laffs, where that kind of pitiful excuse for defense is acceptable.

Wanted no part of him when he was with Colorado, and at this point he has negative value.

The fact MULTIPLE teams are pursuing him is proof enough your take is out to lunch at best on Barrie.

Nope.  Didn't want him when there were rumours we were trying to trade for him prior to Sakic ripping off the Laffs.  Zero reason to be employing a defenseman who can't play defense in the playoffs; you don't win with trash like Barrie.

Yes.  Honestly, at some point one of his coaches should have stuck him in the press box and tell him the only way he plays another shift is if he starts playing defense. at an acceptable level.

Here’s the basic fact:

If Benning believes Barrie is a good player and that Barrie would make this team better and Barrie is available, then Benning will trade for Barrie.

We collectively don’t have Benning’s evaluation grid. So we don’t know where Barrie is on Benning’s list.

No he’s not. But facts have never stopped Heffy and others from railing on about guys being an AHL liability.

You’d think Barrie stole their girlfriend or something. Or worse, their mother.

You should’ve seen what he was saying about Edler for years before finally admitting he was wrong.

I’m not a hugh Barrie fan but maybe that would change if he was on our team. He wasn’t in Sakics plans and had been bad on Toronto (can’t put that part on Barrie) but chances are higher that he’s just a rental. Toffoli would have a lot more chance of signing then Barrie.

Id rather help out Marky. I think our offence is fine. But JB is the smart one so we will see

Interesting note was last night at the HNIC panel, Bieksa said Barrie is better puck mover and better offensively but Stecher defends better 5 on 5. And I do value Bieksa's input as he has been a defenseman in the league for a long time and he would know what it takes to defend 5 on 5 consistently at the NHl level.

Juice also said he likes Vancouver's chemistry and their d-core is a strength of the team right now.

He doesn't think bringing in a guy just to bring in a guy is a good idea - could mess with the chemistry which is obviously working really well right now.

In fact, the entire panel agreed that the Canucks don’t need to make a move.
