Devron
Good for him. Trade makes sense on the payment now.
Spoosh
Isles finally get some more quality up front with Pageau and hopefully Parise. They really need this. They have so many other areas looking good. Lou is doing a great job over there.
Tystick
5mil x 6 years. In retrospect, this is will be a very good signing. He would get WAY more in free agency.
c00kies
That's a very nice contract, also makes the deal more worth it since it isn't a pure rental anymore.

Yeah, it's a shame that Pelech had a season ending injury...they could have really made some noise with him in the lineup.
theo5789
Performing decently on a contract year despite a history of average/low numbers. Need to see what the AAV is, but 6 year term could be rough.
EternalCanuckFan
Pageau is a solid player and fits into the Isles' model. He can play 3C which could let Bailey move back into the top 6 on wing. I believe he can also play RW which gives them much more depth up front. Acquiring Parise also allows them to move Beauvilier down to the 3rd line. Pageau is in his late 20s and $5M for a relatively more established 40+ point forward is decent value. Bailey at $5 million. Nelson at $6 million 3 players with retained salary and only 15 signed players to end next season and Barzal due a significant raise. Seems like the Islanders have decided their window is in the next 4 seasons or so. especially with the age of that roster over that 4 years https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/islanders
Coconuts
Six years ain't bad considering he turned 27 in November, and 5m is pretty manageable. 43 points in 15-16 with 19 goals and a 30ish point guy since. They're probably banking on him being more a consistent 40 point guy. It's hard to say though, with the Isles defense first approach his production may suffer. Four or five years would have been better, but that's hockey. Edited February 24, 2020 by Coconuts

Let us not forget the reaction when we acquired JT Miller as a "cap dump" for 5.25 million a season for only 4 seasons with a much better history statistically and plenty more to offer than Pageau. We paid basically the same price for Miller that NYI did. Miller is younger too. Funny the reactions to when we make a deal compared to when others do. If Pageau regresses back to his "normal" standard (non-contract year), this deal is a mega dud for NYI IMO.
